Quick Dyno comparison

I have a friend with a built 04 who's been tuned at Gruppe-s and he claims that their dyno reads significantly lower than all dynos, including the DD at Vishnu. I tried to inform him that this was not true and that a DD will typically read lower than a Mustang dyno. I told him that these two particular dynos that we were comparing were very similar based on the results I've seen here on EvoM. He totally wasn't having it and still claims the Gruppe-s MD is the ultimate heartbreaker and reads a lot lower. I'm just trying to get some clarification here that these two dynos read similarly. Please post your experiences. Thanks

They are pretty close, with shivs DD maybe being a tad lower in readings, with both being heart breaker dynos.

So what did he do on the gruppe-s dyno and with what mods?

gt30R, all supporting mods, exedy twin, and I believe he's using Motec now. Pretty sure he put down 310whp on 91 and 350whp on 100 oct.

Its now in style to have the lowest reading dyno in the world. Everyone is jumping on the moon dyno band wagon. In the end mustang and dd dynos read very similarly, most results i have seen indicate the vishnu dyno reading a few hp less.

Seems a little low. What GT30R kit and who tuned it?

The Gruppe-S MD reads pretty close to the DD at our shop. But it also dosent help that Grupp-S' dyno is located all the way in the back corner of their warehouse where air temps get pretty warm, now thats heartbreaking...

You have the moon dyno, I call the gruppe-s dyno the fire and smog dyno.

He also said he'll give me his car if I dyno higher than him on 91 oct. in my upcoming IX which will only have a catless TBE,LICP,o2 and Shiv's tuning. Oh man I know he's gonna sh^t his pants once summer is here!!! I'm pretty sure I could break 300whp with TBE and tuning, and hopefully the LICP and ebay o2 will give me the extra 5-10whp. I know he won't follow through but man his a$$ will be sore. Thank God for the IX ownage!

What should his numbers be at? To me the 100 oct number seemed right but not the 91. What gives? Believe the tuning was done at Gruppe-s with a Motec, I'll have to find out for sure on the engine management. He was using UTEC but upgraded when he got the bigger turbo. I know its not AEM.

Do I get his car if I dyno higher than him on 91? I am only 9whp away with the stock turbo.

What turbo kit is he using, did mike @ gruppe-s tune it? Does he have cams?

Seems low for a car that mike has tuned, something else might be amiss. Even the 100 octane numbers are low.

He's full of it he just runs his trap lol. Im sure we'll bet a few hundred bucks when we go dyno just to make it interesting.

those numbers are low. i have the same turbo and i make 320 on 91 with a super conservative map, and 400+on 107.

Agreed....


On my car I've run the same 1/4mile MPH and have dynoe'd within 10whp on BOTH units.
