Just installed the XEDE. It all works except that I cannot get my laptop to communicate to the XEDE.
I had to go buy a USB cable to run to it could this be the problem. It keeps coming up com port one something something. Can someone tell me exactly the steps to download the correct software also. The instructions on vishnu's site I
think is a bit dated...any help is appreciated.

Search this forum for "usb and serial" I think there are only 2 adapters that work. 1 you can get from radio shack and the other online.

 

Its working now. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
