Those vishnu guys can kart!

Against all odds the vishnu guys got to represent in the Norcalevo karting shootout at Lemans in freemont.

Thanks to Dustin I was able to shave a 1 1/2 secs off my laptimes to get in the top 10 but the final was a dirty dirty battle. Fun as hell though.

Asitha was a victim of circumstance but was scarry fast. And Sean was sure to be in the top 10 if not for a few rear induced spins.

Heres Dustin in the zone

Dustin had an unfair weight advantage as you can see.

damn black flags.. Lol, but it was very fun. I need to learn patience as i kept ramming the one guy in front of me to try to get an opportunity to pass but the officials thought the driving was too aggresive. Oh well, dustin represented by postign up teh fastest lap of the day with a 19.116. He could have had 2nd place but a costly spinout near the end of the finals took him out of contention. Oh well good fun and nice meeting everyone.

Well well well....It looks like the gimmicks and high impact gyrations weren't enough to eek out the victory for team vishnu. Oh well, at least I set the day's fastest laptime, right? Here is a break down of the races, which marshall will be posting a few videos of later....

Race 1

I started in 5th or 6th, and moved into 4th in the first lap. Asitha was right in front of me in third, and Sean was holding down the block in 2nd. First place was an unknown man. after the third lap, Asitha passed Sean. I waited until the next lap to start making the move. First I passed our boy Sean, and then Asitha was black flagged for his donkey kong like karting, which left me with quite a gap between the first place car and myself. I quickly closed the gap, and made the move for first on the last lap.

Start: 5th or 6th
Finish 1st

Race 2

In this race I started in 2nd place, and didn't go anywhere. I was in the pathetic number 1 kart, which might be the worst kart on the track. This was later confirmed by the guy that sets all of the karts up.

Start: 2nd
Finish: 2nd

Race 3

Good Christ, what a horrible race this one was. I started in 7th, and started moving up through the field. By the 4th lap I had moved into the 3rd place spot. As I made the move for a CLEAN 2nd place pass, the guy pinned me into the wall in the middle section of the track. On the video you hear who was ever holding the camera say "strong pass" followed by "What the hell kind of move was that?!" This little stunt the guy pulled cost me 4 full spots. I ended up making up a few finishing in 4th.

Start: 7th
Finish 4th

Semi-final qualifying

I started out in 2nd place, After the 2nd lap I took the move and was on my way. The rest of the race was spent putting a good deal of distance on the rest of the field. The overall result was laying down a 19.113 (day's fastest time) and putting at least 1/2 a track on the rest of the field.

Start: 2nd
Finish 1st (set fastest lap time 19.113)

The Final

By the points system I was grided up third. Off the start Yang (Nasa instructor, and the day's winner) was passed by Brian (Razorlab) Brian held him off for a lap or two, and then Yang passed him and started laying the smack. Meanwhile that guy that pinned me into the wall made a dirty pass on me, but I quickly recovered the same lap. Brian had put some distance on me by this time, but I closed the gap with in the next two laps, and finally made my move heading into the first corner, but by this point Yang had some serious space, and even the little bit I was catching up each lap would not be enough to win. Lucky for me, the threw a yellow, and we were stopped to wait for the rest of traffic, Yang's 2 or 3 sec lead was gone. This was my chance. I was going to play it cool because we had a lot of race left, and there was no reason to try to make dumb moves now. But on our 2nd green lap after the yellow, I hit the brake, and the rear axel bound up for a spit second, kicking the kart into the wall. Did I mention I was in the number 1 kart again? The race was over. In dead last, and many yellow laps later I set out to make up some ground in our last 2 green laps. I finished 8th out of the 10 final overall.

Started: 3rd
Finished 8th (May the number 1 kart burn in hell.)

Standard issue at the karting place, plus they keep you from smelling like gas.

That picture actually isn't as dumb as it looks. He walked up, and I pointed at him like "hey whats up" as I was locking the side of my helmet. It just happened to turn out looking like a slim jim ad.
