Modify the V390 map

I was at the track recently, testing out the new clutch, because I blew out the stock clutch running a 12.7 in the 1/4 mile. I went with the Tilton clutch and although I didn't get very good 60 foot times (best I could manage was a 1.87), I still didn't see the mph or consider myself getting close to the 12.1 advertised on Vishnu's website for V390 mods.

Even with a 1.7 sixty foot, that only puts me probably at a 12.5 for a 1/4 mile time, and my speed is 107mph.

I am running the stock V390 map from the Vishnu website. Where should I start on tuning/tweaking the map to see an improvement at the track?

I am running Sunoco 94 Octance

He's in pitt. EDIT: which is 700-1000'

First off, you are using the 93 map, right?

The easiest way to get more area under the curve would probably be the knock buffer and smart timing. You can almost certainly advance a couple of degrees in the midrange, but you don't want to start randomly adding to the timing table without a good way to monitor knock.

A couple tenths of a second could be due to many different things. For your trap speed I think you pulled a very good time.

A 10.5 hotside and testpipe would probably get you to where you want to be. If it doesn't toss in some 100 octane and call it a day.

I am running the 93 octane map for NON SMART. I do have a test pipe, and that is my next trip to put the test pipe on and run race gas. But I figured I should be closer to around 112 to 114mph...at least that is what I see more often on this forum for people with similar setups.

I ran a 12.8 at 106mph when I had the V330 mods last year in October, so for adding 60 more hp at the crank with the V390 setup...you would think my times would have improved more.

Is it a good idea to just add more boost and see what happens? what would be a safe amount to add for each run..?

You need a boost bleeder and more boost with a custom tune...

Test pipe would help too.

I wouldn't recommend adding boost on pump gas. My V390 map was on the bleeding edge of AFR so you may just want to try 2 gallons of 100 octane to your pump gas map just to see what happens. It could very well be that you are getting some knock and the car is pullling timing.

I had to add fuel and yank a little timing off my V390 pump gas map just to keep it from knocking. When the car does pull timing it yanks it hard thus robbing about 20WHP immediately. I had repeatable knock at 6000 rpm that majorly impacted my power curve. I couldn't feel it in the car but it was clearly visible on the graph.

Cam added 30 WHP to my car.

I am in the same boat.

Today I ran a best time of 12.71 @ 110.8mph. 1.73 60' time.

I have an Xede with TBE (no cat), HKS280s, Vishnu Camgears (0,0). Tuned @ Dyno4mance. 93 Octane. stock 03 turbo (9.8 hot)

There is no way this car will run anything near a 12.1 Something is amiss. I'm pretty sure that Im not knocking.

I do not speak for Vishnu but I believe those advertised times and HP figures assume race fuel.

For example, the v550 kit is not going to produce 550hp or low 11's on 93 octane. Pump gas just won't support it.

For all those 03/04 peeps you definately need to get the 10.5 hotside. This made a night and day difference on my car.

what do your 1/8th mile times look like? With those trap speeds you should be a little quicker.

Might want to consider a wideband.

I tried the 100 octane map from the web site Friday night/early Saturday morning and was quite disappointed. It felt a bit smoother, but I do not think it was any faster. Anyone experience anything like that?

Not to get off topic, but I like the link on your signature.

Are you talking about a V390 map ?
Do you have Cams/Gears ?

I must admit, I use the 93 octane 330 map with 100 octane fuel all the time.
I'm not sure who's happier, me or the car.
