Old version Xede error

So Im having some problems with my laptop talking to an Xede that is using an old version of the firmware (v.2 I think).

When I connect to the Xede using Xmap 3 I get the 'this Xede is using v2' error. No problem, I open and connect using Xmap 2.0.1.1 that I also have on my computer. It says it connected happily, but does not display the engine RPM and other data. Also when I try to download the maps on the Xede it gives me an "Invalid map bank header : yyyy" error.

Now I would just update it to version 3, and be done with it, but it has some custom map for the GT30 turbo and other mods on the car. So I really need to get and convert that map before I can do anything.

Does anyone have any clues on what could be the problem, or if/how I can get hold of the map on the unit?

Below is the error dialog screenshot.

Any help would be appreciated.

You are using an incorrect firmware/Xmap combo. Start fresh, and update the firmware to the newest firmware on our site, and then use the newest Xmap.

the reason I don't want to do that is that the Xede has some custom maps on it.

If I can get those maps out the next step was to update the firmware.

Was there a version of the Xede that used something older than XMAP2?

No, but it will give you that message if it doesn't recognize the software ver. There were a bunch of different software ver. for the early 3.2 stuff. If this was a custom map, it may have used one of those software ver. PM me the full name and dyno day location of the custom maps, and I can see if Shiv has them saved on his computer.

The car was custom tuned by the previous owner.

Right now the car seems to run well but is really down on power (go figure). It looks like it is going to be next to impossible to get these maps off. I guess we just need to start over with it or leave it as it is until Shiv comes out this way next.

Thanks for your help though Dustin, I appreciate it.

Do you not know the name of the previous owner?

I mean it was self-tuned by the previous owner. Not tuned by Shiv.

Yar... Sucks huh.. Oh well. Hopefully I'll get this figured out.. Is there anyway to tell which version of xmap I need to use?

Thanks again for your help.

Moss,

I emailed Chris the Xede directory from my laptop. This was from a restore point in March. You will find all files installed in the directory. You will also find three maps from October 2005 in the pas drirectory. Last version of Xmap used when connected to the Xede was 3.2.0.7 I believe. Prior to selling the car to Chris I had no issues connecting to the Xede via Xmap or pyXede. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Regards,
Chris
