Question Help with a MAP

My car was a full stage 1 plus EVO with the appropriate map.

But because I have a preoccupation with wasting time and money on go-fast parts I decided to combat my issue by returning my car to nearly stock!

In all honesty it worked. I no longer spend hours on EVO-M looking for the next best turbo upgrade costing thousands of dollars and I'm no longer tempted to race every fast car I see on the street. Other than no longer being the fastest import in town I okay with my plan.

Here's the problem..... over winter I pulled off and sold 99% of my mods. I now have a virtually stock evo with xede, cams, cam gears, testpipe, and a whinebro fuel pump. (yes stock exhaust less the 2.5" home made testpipe)

I have no way to detect knock and no standard map to download. I do know how to tweak my timing and fuel but I'm not sure what is "SAFE" to pull out.

My questions are:

1. How much boost SHOULD be safe?
2. How much fuel can I yank out?
3. How much timing do I need to pull because of #2?

I know I'll get a speach about how I really need a tune and yadda yadda yadda but there should be a SUGGESTED tuen that I can try. I know there is a risk but its not much different than the danger associated with the standard issue vishnu maps.

Help!

1. ~20psi is a good starting point
2/3. Every car is different. Try an old base stage 1+ 91 octane map until you can get on a dyno. That should be totally safe, but leave the boost around 20-21 until you can see for sure.

I've been reviewing maps and it seems 20 psi -- pulling 8% fuel and 1* of timing is the tune I should aim for.

I've plugged those number in and the car still pulls very good considering the lack of 3" exhaust. I test drove an EVO9 today and my lightly modded 03 would lay waste to the stock 9. But that is apples to oranges I guess.

Thanks for the info.

On a side note....... I'm planning on getting the ECUscan and WB. I simply haven't decided on a WB yet.
