P0300 even after smart removal
Hey all,
I wanted to remove the possibility of a P0300 code for registration/inspection because I sold my car (buyer picking it up Friday) so I basically zeroed every map except for the boost (still using the Xede for that) and got my car tuned by a local tuner. Well, the code comes up all the time and we tried with the tuner to adjust twice. The timing is where it should be.
Before I installed SMART, I never had a code on my car (for over 2 years), so I am pretty sure there is no misfire. Anyway, could I have forgotten to do something in the Xede? Any suggestions? I need heelp to get this resolved. Thanks,
Sigfrid

There is a major issue with the P0300. I had that same problem and it ended up costing me my #2cyl. Even though it was not a real misfire. There is a Post here about it. I bought The Creader from Ebay, and no more CEL light. Try searching P0300 unrder the diagnosis area.

My car never had a P0300 code until I installed the smart feature. I could also remove the positive timing in the smart table and it would go away. I am just wondering what could make it stay after I zeroed the maps. I may just remove the Xede alltogether to check if that's the cause somehow. Car did not pass emissions test too much Hydrocarbons. I will install the stock cat to see if that's better. Should I change my cam gears? I have them set on +3/0. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Sigfrid

my car didn't have 0300 until normal driving of stage1+ for 10k miles...then all the sudden it was there and went away with a plug change. xede and smart have nothing to do with 0300...tons of stock VIII's had to go in for a flash to remove 0300 back in the day.

don't worry about buying the best plugs. just get the ngk coppers. they work fine. no clue...here in TX we only have OBD2 readiness for inspection i've passed with a test pipe for the last 2 years. give the stock cat a try.
in my previous post i said "xede and smart have nothing to do with 0300" i guess i should not that that is in my situation. i don't know that there are 0 instances with the xede causing the issue, but my error goes away every time with a plug change.
