264/264 cams

Shiv - I sent you an email regarding this, but thought it may be beneficial to post this so that other xede users with similar set-ups can also get this info.
Will you be posting up maps for us with the 264/264 Stage 1 + ?
How are the cam gears set in this application ? Will it damage the motor if I get the cams installed prior to getting the proper map ?

Hi,
No problem installing the cams before running the correct map. The car will just not perform nearly as well as it could if mapped appropriately. I don't have access to the Stage 1+ map right now since it is in my XEDE, which is in my car, which is at our fabricators getting some... ahem... work done to it. I'll get my hands on it tomorrow and post it up on the website asap. As for 264/264 maps, I don't expect to have them unless we see a customer car equipped appropriately. But honestly, it should be quite easy to custom tune a 264/264 Stage 1 car on the dyno. Just start off with the 264/272 map and tweak from there.

Regards,
shiv

Why the 264i/272e over the 264/264. I know that you have a very good reason. Could you please help me understand.
Thanks

I'm would also like to see a 264/264 option for stage 1+. For better idle.

Good question. While I've heard people claim increased power - I've seen no one post differences between a 264/264 comb vs 264/272.

presumably the 264/272 combo would make more power above stock redline - which begs the question, what needs to be reinforced to safely run a higher redline e.g. 8000-8500rpm? head studs, valve springs, retainers - would that do it?

Depends on the turbo though not much need to rev to 8500 when your peak is at 61oo and you gasping at 75oo. I havent heard any plans of shiv to dramatically raise rev up there. But I see what your saying I just think turbo and fuel need upgrading befor we think we can go past 8

Here's one test done by AMS where they looked at the different Cams on a DSM engine.
