A couple of the teeth did have some pretty good scratches on them but he said the special tool he used probably made the scratches and that it is no big deal.

The "special tool" Goes nowere near the cam gears themselves it goes into a hole ( covered by a rubber stopper) Right by the front o2 wire snaking its way under the valve cover. He is totally BS ing you. Ask him point blank did he mess with the bottom of the timing belt?
