Another Xflash dyno result

Just left the shop. Stock car (okay, it had a K&N panel filter), before and after XFlash. 91 octane. Nice and consistent, eh?

Is boost pill removed on the Xflash? It spikes high and settles back down to stock levels..seems to change most from 3200-4700rpm

Yes, the pill is removed. We also install a little fitting in that same line. This gives us the ability to reduce wastegate solenoid duty cycles while still being able to raise the boost in the midrange. FWIW, the stock ECU drives the factory solenoid to 90-98% duty cycle, making it impossible to raise boost substantially remapping alone.

What are the typical gains with 93 octane flash on an Evo with turbo back exhaust? Also, is there any problems tuning for open air elements such as the AEM/K&N? I take it that a K&N panel filter isn't a problem. What kind of gains are you seeing with the various filters and the reflash?

so, a stock Evo on your dyno would be 195whp? if so those are good gains

Why are the A/F's still in the sub 10's? I could have sworn they were higher on the flashed cars?

Not on our flashed cars. On 91 octane, they need to be this rich for sufficient knock surpression. Running them leaner can result in a strong run or two. But repeatability and consistency go to the gutter. As does drivability as you can feel them pull timing from time to time on the road.

Cheers,
shiv

How are you able to significantly raise boost with the XEDE and not with the XFlash? You said that you can drive the solenoid to 98% duty cycle with the ECU. What's holding it back? What makes the XEDE different?

Also AFRs look very different between these two dyno runs. Is that due to the ability to alter the knock signal with the XEDE?

Your comparing an EVO with a full exhaust to a stock EVO. The stock EVO, all things equal, needs to run richer than the EVO with the exhaust for maximum power/safety margin. It also runs less boost up top due to exhaust gas restrictions.

shiv

Does no response to this question mean YES?
