TX Dyno Day
In Al's message to the moderators that Shiv shared with us, didn't he say "they are taking a guy who had a dyno flash for a stock car and who added mods without re-tuning to a tuned car" ?
I'd like to get to the bottom of that pretty quick. Was the Dynoflash for a totally stock car with no exhaust, no cams, no nothing? Or did Joey order it ordered and tell Dynoflash the mods on his vehicle?
I saw those curves, and there was a DRAMATIC difference, even with the baseline 1+ map plugged in as a starting point.
Joey, when did you get the Dynoflash, and what did you tell them you had?

I am really interested in the drivability enhancement aspects with the vishnu product.
Are there similar / the same drivability gains experienced with only the xflash?
Have you heard from other vishnu customers @ the dyno day regarding this question?

The boost is actually lower in the first run where the dynoflash and Vishnu maps are loaded on top of one another. In the second sheet the boost was raised, but you will mainly see this in the mid-range hump as like all of the other cars the 16g just will not hold the same boost up top. However, the biggest difference is not quantitative but qualitative. The car is MUCH smoother on and off of the throttle, and just more responsive all of the way around. This coupled with all of the other benifits I listed earlier easily justify this expendature to me, but then again I may be somewhat biased. As I mentioned before, I do not think that the dynoflash is a bad product and at the time it served my needs, but I by far preffer the Vishnu route now that I have tried both.

If you are only here to troll, you'll save yourself from humiliation if you just leave now. That number you see there is not even his tuned number. Its the default Vishnu map for a Stage 1+ car.. Which Joey's car is totally different from. He hit like 322whp after tuning IIRC, which is pretty high on Alamo's dyno.
You weren't there and don't know the facts. I ran the dyno software all day and watched that car undergo its metamorphosis into something really special. FWIW, my car WITHOUT CAMS made 26whp more at peak and a lot more power everywhere 4500rpm up than that Dynoflash map. It was not mapped for the cams, but that still does not explain the initial good spike followed by a gigantic puke-n-die.
I am not here to troll, thats your job. Anywayz, why are you asking all the questions on your quote when you SAY you KNOW ALL the facts?
He is saying on his post that he had the cams AFTER the dynoflash, right?
So, what did I say that obviously irked you? I am a fan of Vishnu myself, specially his 23psi overboost midrange, but from what your BOY is saying, those gains were made AFTER he installed the cams.
The way the Dynoflash mail-in works, is you tell AL what you have in mods, and he'll find a flash in his PC that is the closest to your mods. Shiv has to have the EXACT stage mods for his basemaps to work, right?
Anywayz, later. Stop sourgraping. This is a public forum, NOT EXCLUSIVE for Vishnu customers ONLY.

I'm fully aware how the Dynoflash program works. I even considered it for a time. As far as you leaving the trolling to me, give me a break. I've only posted in the Dynoflash forum a couple of times, and have been kind and civil to Al in his forum. I wish him no ill will whatsoever.
As far as needing the exact mods for Shiv's base maps to work, its more ideal, but it certainly isn't total requirement. Joey's car is not at all like the Stage 1+ default map you see as the comparison in the jpg run here. First of all, he has a 272 intake cam, as well as a good deal of other parts that are not a part of the Stage 1+. So in reality, neither map was correct for the mods, hence the custom tune. Both of those graphs have the cams already installed in the car. One is a dynoflash map that was intended for the stock cams, and the other a default Vishnu map (would be identical curve on a $399 XFlash) for Stage 1+.
If this is a misunderstanding, then I apologize if you thought the difference in the two graphs were the cams. It sounded like you were being sarcastic in your original post. Again, the only difference was a Dynoflash map on the first two runs, then a default XEDEFlash Stage 1+ map (untuned) for the following run where it picked up 30whp. Are we understanding each other better now?
I couldnt agree w you more that the XEDE/XedeFlash is a better deal for you for what you want. I also agree that after at least the wideband and launch control are operational, the $995 pricetag of the XEDE and XEDEFlash will be well worth it.
Right now, you have to agree with me that $1000 - hell, you probably paid extra for dynotime and tuning time in this TX Dyno Day as well - is still pricey. Its like selling you a house with a furnished price, but the furniture comes in every other month or something. I am not dissing Shiv or Vishnu, I am just aching to put my 2 cents in on OTHER people saying its a BIG 20-30HP difference on the graphs. I will eventually get the XEDE/XedeFlash (if Shiv doesnt ban me from getting one after these posts
), but I am still modding other stuff to date. I like his products, but not worth my money just yet. Also, he needs to be replying to my emails to get my business first
.
To all the narrow minded people around here, here is my revised quote to THEM:
XEDE/XedeFlash = $1000
Custom Tuning = $ blah
Dynoflash Mail-In = $199.95 w free Buschur intake
HKS Cams = 20-30HP
Common Sense = priceless

The extra money is for the XEDE component of the deal. You can get an XFlash for $399. To me, the maps are awesome AND unlike Dynoflash, you get closed loop tuning and a nice increase in fuel economy. The difference in the two reflashes will pay for it over time. When I was running an SAFC with no closed loop tuning, I averaged 21mpg. Now, I average 26.5mpg since I went with Vishnu.
The XEDE is more for hardcore users, but the appeal of it was pretty awesome to me.
Regarding fees for custom tuning, get the
XEDEflash at the same time and it might jsut blow your mind in how inexpensive it will be!
