Hmmm, page 90-90 in the Evo manual (GR00000400-90.pdf) clearly shows that the ECU has control over the compressor.

Very odd that it doesn't do anything with it at WOT or high RPMs. The 2G DSM ECU shuts off the A/C compressor at high RPMs to protect it from damage.

Technomotive added the feature (except at WOT) to the 1G DSM ECUs.

The 2G eclipse also has 3 settings for the AC button. Just because something is in the manual does not mean it is true for your car. Maybe it was changed for the spec of the car, since they do print the manuals well before the car is produced.

BTW I also own a 1995 (built in Aug 94) 2G GST.

The Evo would also need control over the A/C in order to protect the engine from overheating. In cases where the engine reaches extreme temps, the ECU will shut down the A/C. This is basic engine control stuff.

I'm not arguing that Shiv has seen the power loss. I'm just surprised that Mitsubishi didn't put in this basic A/C compressor safety precaution feature that has shown up on their previous cars.

Hey guys,

New to the forums, and fairly new to car modifications. But i got a quick question for you. I was looking in a mustang magazine yesterday while picking up a copy of SCC. The mustang mag showcased four cars that they were testing 1/4 times on. The fastest, with 654 whp I believe, ran 10.4 - 10.7 times @ 115 mph speeds (give or take a mph).

Now I know that a 654 whp mustang cobra would mop up a stock evo, but if Shiv runs it at 125 mph and is only pulling mid 11's, are those mustang guys blowin smoke? I've never been to the track, so im not savvy enough to make the call.

Must be a typo. 10s and 115mph do not computer. Unless they stood on the brakes for the last 1/8th mi. To run a 10.4, you should be going at least 130 through the traps. And that is with a perfect traction pass.
