Question Over Rev question for Shiv

I originally posted this in the Turbo/Drive Train Section:

"Please don’t laugh, I feel pretty bad about this.

I was at a local 1/8-mile drag strip Friday night and it was my first time ever drag racing. On my third run of the night, I raced against my friend's EVO and after I crossed the finish line I was slowing and downshifting at the same time. I think I had a brainfart and ment to go to fourth gear but instead went to second gear. My car lunged forward and I looked down in panic and saw the tac swing over to 9000, I immediately pressed the clutch back in. I may have been on 9000 rpm for half a second or a little more.

Do you guys think my engine is ok? I'm pretty sure that it’s "ok" to go that high for a second without any damage. But sustained over rev is bad.

Thanks"

If it's still running, not down on power and not making weird noises, you're probably fine
