Shiv, please come to the Washington D.C. area

Shiv,
For some reason my car gained only 20-25 hp at the wheels with the Satge 1+. I can't really figure out what's wrong. When are you coming back to this area for a dyno day? Thanks.

Do you mean 20-25 over stock or 20-25 over the stage 1? If the latter, that is all you get, but it is an increase all over the power band, not just at the very high rpms.

Check cam timing and make sure your not off a tooth. Of all the Stage 1+ cars I've done, off of which have made 320-360whp on an AWD Dynojet, their XEDE mapping was all quite similiar. At least enough to know that anyone that performs way below sub-par is dealing with something else besides actual tuning. My suggetion would be to take it to Turbotrix in NJ as they have done a number of installations for us. They also have a dyno which makes it easy for them to verify that the changes they made are for the better.

My 2c,
shiv

If you dont have a boost gauge yet get one. You most likely dont have a tunning issue, you have a mechanical and or boost issue. Trust me on this.

Thanks guys. I'm relatively new to modifications and I don't know if I really know enough to use the boost guage correctly. I'll do some more research on it though. My car baselined at 240 whp and then after all the installs i got 262. I was pretty disappointed.
Shiv, do you know if Altered Atmosphere in MD would be able to help me? New Jersey is not very convenient for me at this time. Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly.

Did you have a boost gauge handy during your dyno pulls? And how far away is www.dyno4mance.com from you? Making only 22whp with those mods indicates that something is very wrong and in desperate need of fixin'.

sti-eater...

Im having the exact same problem with my stage 1+. Its only dynoing 30 hp more than stock.

I spoke with Shiv about it, and i guess the only way to fix it is to have them tune it.

Road Race installed my stuff, and i assume they know what their doing.

The boost is fine too.

Ultimate Racing installed my cam grears for me and I have found them to be pretty reliable. So I was thinking like Alex said that I need tuning or a dynoflash done.
Unfortunately, Dyno4mance isn't all that close either. Andrew, do you know any installers in the DC area that has experience with Vishnu products?
It would be good to get a certified Vishu installer one out here. I belong to a group called the DC Evo Club that has a little over 300 members, that's a lot of potential business for Shiv.

Hey Steve
you are right the DC evo club is one of the biggest in the US,,
I used to live in Fairfax VA but unfortunately I do not know of a specific shop that can help.....
To check the cam timing is very easy, remove the four bolts that fix the plastic belt cover to the cam cover.... most of Vishnus cam gears were shipped to customers with a big painted red dot on the tooth that should line up with the marks on the cam cover, once these dots have been lined up with the marks, the best way to do this is by slowly rocking the car forward in 5th gear until the marks come around and line up...... take a flashlight and verify that the notch in the crank pully is lined up with the TDC mark on the block...this mark is the one that looks like a cross or a lower case "t"
Next, look directly at the cam gears from the passenger side of the car...ensure that the line on the center portion of both gears is lined up with the second line on the outer pert of the gear to the left of the "0" if it does your cam gears are correctly timed for a stage 1+ with cams...hope this is not too confusing

sti-eater:

If you want some "non-professional" help, there are a number of us in the DC area that might be able to look at your car for any obvious problems, or that could help you install a boost gauge, check boost levels, check cam timing, etc.

I would be willing to help you with any of the above -- I installed my entire Stage 1+ myself and my own boost gauge among other things -- although my schedule is a little cramped these days, or I could give you some referrals to local guys.

PM me if you're interested.

Those dyno numbers sound VERY suspect to the cam gears being off a tooth and being set at TDC from the 0 marker and not the red dot. I think Shiv's initial guess is dead on.

I just helped sti-eater out with looking into this.

The cam gears were set at +2/+2. He said that his cams are stock (which would make his car a Stage 1, not a Stage 1+), so we set the cam gears to -5/-5. A quick test drive seemed to confirm a noticeable increase in top end power.

I hope we can say problem solved...
