Still hard to say. The car wasn't stock. It had larger GT2 turbos and ran higher-than-stock fuel pressure. So the stock ECU run wasn't indicative of a stock car. Compared to the EVO, 911s have to run pretty darn rich to keep from pinging. But have an extra 1.6 liters of displacement and weighing about the same, it's pretty easy to make them awfully fast with conventional tuning. The problem is, I have yet to see evidence of "conventional" tuning in the Porsche aftermarket

That market is a cash cow.

Just finished up the first tuning session with the 911tt. With the stock ECU, it made just under 300whp. With the remapped ECU, it made 320whp. With the stock ECU and the XEDE, it made nearly 370whp with a flat torque curve (no spikes, no fuel cut, no drop outs, etc, as was the problem with the remapped ECU).

FYI, they claim an 30-60hp increase over stock, (unlike the 20 you got using XXX company) for a 1996-1998 911 Turbo. See http://www.giacusa.com/giac/software...le=911%20TURBO

The remapped ECU did come from a very reputable company. Not going to say who it is since we've only tested one car with it. Not to mention that the purpose of the test was to see how well the XEDE can control engine performance, not how poorly other products work. Still, the ECU in question is certainly a product that many Porsche customers will be familiar with. Also, the test car was a 993tt, not the 996tt which is a different beast altogether.

I would like for him to talk to Shiv, but we have an engine and tranny to install in another car tonight and he is having a stint put in an artery tomorrow so he has a few other things on his mind. He does NOT like my little Evo being faster then his wicked looking Porsche though! It is a 90 C2 cab with the turbo flares and the 993 turbo S wing and it has been lowered with a perfect solid black paint job from Stewart's in Dallas. Beautiful car, but it needs a different engine managment system as it has been changed over to dual 993 based exhaust with different cams and some head work. A supercharger is coming soon so he will have to change the engine computer to handle the extra flow along with a MAS metering system. The Xede would be perfect with the timing control and injector scaling ect. I will have to keep working on him about the Xede.
