x-flash/Air fuel ratio low

Forgive me if this topic has already been covered. I was somewhat disappointed with the results attained after a dyno session showed a hp gain of approx. 21 peak over stock and 19 ft/lb tq. This is with the vishnu stage 1 upgrade(x-flash, cam gears, and turbo back exhaust, stock cams). The afr was very low on the top end; dropping as low as 9.15 @ 7k+ with lots of black soot from the exhaust above 6k. This is on 92 octane on a mustang dyno. Baseline hp: 223, tq: 239. After Vishnu stage 1: hp: 244, tq:260.4. Any input appreciated.

Is your new boost line installed properly? What boost values are you seeing throughout the rev range?

Check your cam gear installation. Chances are that it is off a tooth. It needs to be lined up with the tooth that has the red dot on it, not the "0" mark. If it's off a tooth, it will be down on power by 20-30whp and will read very rich on the wideband.

Just something to check... let us know what you find.

The boost line was longer than oem. I wasn't sure if it should have been shortened to oem length or left as, is so I didn't shorten it. Installed with restrictor at same end as oem restrictor pill. I'll check with the installer on the cam gear positioning. Thanks for the quick response!

btw, all you have to do with the boost lines is join the two together with our black aluminum fitting. Leave the pill in there too or it will boost too high. It's a new boost control method that we've started. It results in the best boost control we've seen. Far more stable and steady than using the factory solenoid. Just confirm that peak boost is 20-21psi with taper off to 18psi by redline.

I replaced the stock boost line with the vishnu supplied line. I've read in related threads that others have done the same, the installer said it was a direct replacement as well. Thanks for the correct info, I'll refer the installer to this thread. Is there an installation guide available either online, or in print form for the x-flash boost line? Also; when the boost lines are joined together should the stock oem line stay connected to the solenoid, with the vishnu supplied line fitting between the T and the oem line? Also, should both lines stay the same length or should they be shortened? The two together would more than double the length of the boost line. Best regards,

How long ago did you recieve the boost line? Did you get an extra piece of hose and a T fitting? Or did you just get a black fitting? If you recieved extra vaccuum line and t fitting, do not use that, instead leave the factory lines as they were from the factory, and I will send you the aluminum fitting along with the diagram on how it should be installed.

Boost line was received around 1/04. Nothing else was in the package except the reflashed ecu, no instructions. The boost line has a shiny aluminum fitting with maybe 2" of hose on one end which is connected to the solenoid & approx 8" on the other end which is connected to the T oem fitting. Any additional parts needed as well as a diagram would be much appreciated.

OK, this is a newb question. But can anyone explain to me how that boost control works? I have an XFlash with the two lines joined by the aluminum fitting, and the pill in the line.

It takes the factory BCS out of the equation. Think of it as a precision MBC with no user adjustability and therefore no margin of error. You've already been custom tuned, so leave yours alone.
