Xede & XMAP work on Macs
Xede & XMAP work on Macs
For anyone interested Macs with Virtual PC can run XMAP and connect to the Xede, just make sure the COM ports match between XMAP and your computer when configuring for the USB to Serial cable adapter.
I used an iBook so i'm not sure, but I think the Xede must be connected to the car as that's how it gets it's power. There may also be other diagnostics that are running underneath between the Xede and XMAP which would require the Xede be connected to the ECU to function properly with XMAP.
Thanks for the post. I was the original person who posted the question about tuning the XEDE and running XMAP on VirtualPC on the Mac. Everything works great! I have a Titanium PowerBook 1Ghz, 1GB RAM, running OS X 10.3.3. I purchased the latest version of VirtualPC (6.1 stand alone) and installed Windows 2000. I bought the Keyspan USB to serial converter. You can find that here:

I chose the Keyspan product because they provide specific directions for using the adapter with VirtualPC. Anyway, everything works like a charm – loading & downloading files to and from the XEDE, data logging, etc. It’s probably a little sluggish compared to running the software on a newer PC. But it works fine for the intended purpose.
