'05 Evo 8, MR, RS Turbo

Shiv,

Any insight into the '05 Turbo and what advantages it might have over the current offering? I'm considering stripping my car of the Stage 1+, selling it, and waiting for the '05 RS or MR.

Any input on aftermarket front LSD vs. the OEM version coming in '05? I've heard the MR 6 speed may not be as strong as the 5 speed.

I'm still waiting to hear what the official weight difference is for the MR. My intent is to create a potent road racer and I'm not sure if I should keep going with the '03 or wait for the '05.

Thanks

If you're lookin' for your "road racer" =), I'd definately recommend the '05 RS. It's got the 5-speed which you're looking for as well as the front slip and, of course, it's lighter GOOD LUCK BABY.

And in case you haven't noticed, the members of this site, and the members of SoCalEvo.net in particular, have built up quite an aversion to Santa Monica Mitsubishi. When the Evo's first came out, even when most dealers were charging 5-7k over sticker, you guys were ripping people off at 15-20K over, and represented the car as much more limited than it actually was.

LOL.... First of all, if I wanted to make a sale, I'd be pushing you towards the '04 models. Second of all, every dealership has a mark-up. We're Santa Monica, so if Steven Speilberg decides to wander into our dealership, see's a sticker price of $41,995 and says "ok, I'll take three", who's to stop him? But if you know enough about EVOs and know what the MSRP is, there's no way in hell you'll pay that mark-up. So whatever your name was, are you saying saying the new SLR Mercedes shouldn't have a $20,000 mark-up? On top of that, do you think EVERYONE's going to be paying that? Highly doubtful. Yes, yes... my signs are indicating no. LOL. Damn, if those other dealer's were actually getting that 5-7 grand mark-up, more power to them. I'd be lucky if we sell one with a 2 grand mark-up.

Anyways, aside from the people that have no lives and nothing better to do than start shi*, if you're into straight racing and performance, read the thread above =) I'm sure there are other people on this site who'd able to give you more accurate descriptions and advantages on why the '05 RS should have an advantage over the MR in circuiting.

I'm still not sure on my end. I have a feeling I'm going to be keeping my blacky. Maybe just buy the MR roof. As of now, my performance is just fine. Unless I decide to start going to the track on a regular basis, I'll be sticking to my '03.

Where do i start? The fact that every other dealership does something that is annoying and undesirable for the customers is not a justification for doing it yourself. The reason why Santa Monica is so high on the boycott list on multiple sites is that your premiums are rediculously higher than everyone elses.

This is exactly the sort of preying and taking advantage of people that don't know better that everyone hates about dealerships in general, and Santa Monica in particular. Theres a reason car salesmen have such a bad reputation: they make their living from taking advantage of other people, and feeding them lies and misrepresentations.

Words fail me in expressing how completely and utterly wrong that statement is. The SLR, last time my father looked at it, had much more than a 20k mark-up. And people here in the Beverly Hills / West Hollywood ARE IN FACT paying that much over sticker for it. If you talk with the dealers at Ferrari, or a Mercedes, or even at Lamborghini, you'll realize that these markups are there not to "trick" people or prey on the unsuspecting, but simply b/c of supply and demand. The markup for those premium cars are there b/c the demand is there. It is not worth it for the dealership to sell them for any less b/c people on the waitlist are already willing to pay much more for them.

Trash talking is usual on this forum, as most can see. But name-calling from a Car Dealership to a sea of potential customers doesn't bode well for you in particular, or Santa MOnica Mitsu in general. I mean, come on, what ever happened to fighting reason with reason? What ever happened to "the customer is always right." What ever happened to tact? These cheap blows are unprofessional, and are part of the reason why even though i am 5 miles from your dealership, i take my car down to Huntington Beach for everything. They are real people who don't get pleasure out of rolling around in their own BS.

Last time i dropped by Santa MOnica Mitsu (ages ago), i was swamped with a wealth of lies from the predators working there. And its amazing how far on it'll carry if you don't let on that you know the truth. Lets see if i can recall some examples:

1) There will only be 400 evos built
2) theyre probably going to discontinue them soon, so get one now!
3) a 500 hp turbo kit is covered under warranty if it is installed by the dealer

ill remember the other lies eventually. Look, all im saying is that this is a forum where EVO owners come for information, help, general communication. The biggest value of this forum, in my opinion, is to help everyone that has an EVO or is interest in an EVO get the best for their money. Kind of like a "consumer reports" for EVO's. The site as helped me tremendously, and i'm sure it has helped many others just the same. What you guys do over at Santa MOnica Mitsubishi is diametrically opposed to just about everything we value on this site. I welcome you to just run a search on your dealership, and see all the wonderful things people have had to say about it.

Robert, you can take advantage of as many unknowing customers as your conscience allows you to. But all the lies and BS will eventually come out, and the people on this board will not take lightly to them. Have a good day.

maybe we should rename this thread.

Anyway, I don't know a thing about these new turbos and some specifics would be nice.
If you want some info about aftermarket front LSD I would read this entire thread if you haven't already. This is the route I'll be taking when they become avaliable.

Wow, that was some post. Yea, you're right about the bad rep of the car salesman, and I'm not surprised that the clowns here have said that to you. There are quite a number of unprofessional as well as immature workers here. However, for this reason I stand out.

I think you're upset at every dealership and not just myself. I just so happen to be the first one readily available for your outbursts. I apologize how anyone else has ever treated you, however, it has nothing to do with me. You should have let them know how you feel. Holding it in and having it blow up on someone else isn't all that healthy. Complaining will get you nowhere, just move-on, conquer, resolve, or disengage from the situation.

As far as demand for a vehicle goes, I was doing just fine when the '04 hit my lot with a constant $2,000 mark-up. I conversed with my customers, "this is the MSRP" and "this is a mark-up". They understood what business was about, the fact that they were brand new, and paid the mark-up. I must have sold 7 like that. What killed it was the fact that the following week, dealerships around Southern California were selling them for invoice. Oh well, what can ya do. We're dealing with Mitsubishi salesman, not Mercedes.

That was a mighty nice post though, lol. If someone on this board recognizes my name, they know all that jibberish above has nothing to do with me. By the way, did you go to Beverly?

To the dude that asked about the MR roof Actually, I'm not sure where you can get it, but I've seen a picture of an '03 with it. It's out there somewhere =)

MY post was absolutely not directed to you specifically. But it was directed at Santa Monica Mitusbishi particularly. Its nothing personal quite yet, since i was lucky enough to get mine under invoice back in July (plus the fact that i didn't, have never, and will never purchase anything from Santa Monica Mitsu), but i just get aggravated at the thought of people taking advantage of others, and i think Santa Monica Mitsu has been a particular problem in that area.

As for me personally, for the other members reference, i always deal with the Fleet Managers now. You cut through the bullsh_t.
