Water Injection?
Water Injection?
I've heard people throw the idea of water injection for the EVO. I wanted to know if there was any planned water injection add-on for the XEDE in the near future? I ran accross http://www.aquamist.co.uk/index.html that carries very nice kits. What sort of performance gains do you see from water injection?
This is a nice kit for example:

Let me know what you guys think.

Water injection, as long as you aren't using it as a band-aid, is a pretty good thing. It has a higher specific heat than the fuel and as a consequence, its able to absorb more heat per unit than gasoline. Also, the water vaporizes and turns to steam in the combustion chamber which helps steam clean the chamber and elimiate carbon deposits and other hot spots which could cause detonation.
BTW, I have all my boost now
I overlooked a restrictor in the compressor outlet line. 1.4 bar dropping to 1.3

can anyone give me a brief summary as to what water injection is and how it works?
Im assuming its not what i think it is, namely, that water is injected into the engine instead of fuel . . . b/c uh, well, water doesn't compress or combust. So it must be something else.

It is injected with the fuel into the engine. Water is not combustable, but it soaks up alot of heat due to its high flash point (It isn't enough water to hydrolock an engine). This gives the tuner the ability to add more timing and boost with a better safety margin (less knock).
This is just a quick and some what accurate description.

bump for anyone that has actually setup the XEDE to control water injection. We've had 2 or 3 other threads about this, but does anyone have any kits to recommend?
From the previous threads, it seems we just need a kit, and not a controller, since the XEDE will take care of that (or will it over 5k rpms?)
