Shiv, boost control question?

Hi Shiv,

I noticed that in first gear, my boost only hangs around 1.3 or so (and thats on that Greddy gauge of mine that you said reads low). It won't hit 1.5 bar unless its in second gear or above. Is that normal?

Did you get a boost graph from your dyno session? Here's a boost graph of a typical Stage 1+ in 3rd gear for both 91 and 100 octane. Since your car was recently tuned by Shiv on his dyno we should safely assume he tried to get as much out of your motor as he could and that the boost should follow closely to the one on the graph in 3rd gear. If not, your gauge may be off wether in first gear or higher gears.

yep.. lower boost in lower gears is normal. Esp in 1st where the engine tends to out-accelerate the turbo. Perfectly natural. This is also the reason that you don't get full boost until much higher than normal in first gear.

cool. thanks Shiv and Noodle, just making sure.

Also, I wanted to get your preliminary thoughts on the ATP upgrade and how well it would, in theory, work on pump gas.

Im not a race gas kinda guy.

Is it even possible to make more power without more lag on pump gas than the stock 16g would?
