but its close. A leak down test is the ultimate.
compression check values
i own a 05 evo mr, had a compression check done by a reputable so cal tuner
(TT)and cylinders 1,2 and 4 registered 195psi, while no 3 registered 173, which clearly exceeds the 14psi limit per mitsubishi. i then took my evo to a local
mitsubishi dealership for a diagnostic with compression and they told me that my
car checks out fine, all cylinders were within the 125psi specs. what gives?
was the dealership compression check done via computer or manual as was the
case at TT(i watched TT do the test)? who's numbers are correct as both readings
were measured in psi. after the check at TT, they did a leak down on cylinder
no 3 and the psi came right up, signaling a problem with piston ring in said
cylinder. a friend stated that maybe i should request to watch the dealership
tech do compression check to make sure that they are doing it the manual way,
making sure fuel is not available to cylinders while being tested. any advice or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Did they " wet " test it also ? What #'s did they get ?
Either the dealership doesn't want to deal with a problem in your car so they told you it was ok or your cmpression went up and your fine .

compression check
TT did the compression check first and got the much higher numbers, i pick my evo
at the dealer in the a.m. and i will speak with the tech personally, so i do not know
if it was a "wet test" or not, but i am concerned about the hugh variations in
numbers from 2 different places. i truly hope that mitsubishi is not trying to blow
me off and not deal with it if i have a bad cylinder, of course they test drove it also
and said it ran fine(that means some yahoo drove the **** out of it and wasted
very expensive fuel)but a turbo charged automobile can mask a cars problems and
still run good. oh well, i will know more tomorrow, but i think that this is not over
yet, thanks for your reply
