VP fuels meth..M1 or M3??
VP fuels meth..M1 or M3??
I’m interested in purchasing some M1 meth from VP and found this on there website.. New M3
Anybody have any info on it??
METHANOL
M1™
M1 Racing Methanol has a 99.95% minimum purity - the highest purity available in the U.S. With M1, engines run cooler and are less subject to corrosion. VP uses only lined drums which prohibit rust, corrosion and metal deposits that can contaminate fuel delivery systems. Recommended for all methanol-legal racing applications.
NEW! M3™
Like M1, M3 Racing Methanol has the highest purity available, but with an extra boost. With special additives, M3 offers a wider range of jetting options, making jetting easier and more consistent. With better tuning and cleaner, more efficient combustion, M3 makes more power than any standard methanol on the market and passes water test as well.

M3 grade sounds like the HPLC grade methanol i use for cleaning precision optics
$60/gal
seriously, you are not drinking this stuff, whether its 98 or 99.95, the engine wont know and neither will it make a diff! The surface tension of methanol is in the range of ~20dynes/cm and thats low, enough to produce real fine mist

i'd like to see the differences in prices between the two. if it was minimal, i'd go with the m3 based on the fact that it is supposed to be cleaner. cleaner would logically seem to help prevent any clogging, etc. that might make a kit fail.

M3 has top end lube (oils) and M5 sounds like it has a nitro additive. Either will not be kind to pump diaphragms or seals or any other seals in your system. I've seen pumps die quite quickly when impurities are introduced into the system.
