Is an aftermarket WGA truly necessary when running high boost with Alky Injection?
Hey guys...Im putting and alky kit on my car and getting it tuned in early January. I believe I have all the supporting mods I need.
Im just curious to know if you really need an aftermarket wastegate actuator to control the high boost?
How many of you guys run an aftermarket WGA with alky and what is the stock IX good up to?
Also, is the sole purpose to reduce tapering or are their other purposes?

waste gate actuator
The spring in the waste gate actuator holds the gate closed under boost. If the exhaust psi gets high enough it will push the gate open and your boost will fall off. If you adjust the pre load on the actuator a little tighter it will hold the gate closed a little longer netting more boost. Have you ever wondered why some people have gone so fast with stock turbos. This would be one reason. The down side to this is high exhaust psi = easier to detonate and harder on parts. I use a high psi with my white rabbit turbo because the stock actuator limited me to 22-23. Now I can hold 25#. (on Alky).
