Did the alky destroy my 02 sensor?

I just installed my snow performance alky kit.. for my sc61 turbo.. Im running the 625 jet and the first run out it didnt spray ( max set to high) Lowered it to max at 15psi and went for a run.. Went pig rich in boost Then came to a stop and smelled sulfur (chemical like smell, then Ive never smelled before... Now the car idles around 10.2- 10 flat on my wideband.. On the drive back I also got 2 p0131 codes.. ( 02 sensor low volts) Think my pre cat 02 is toasted!!! What do you think?

PS- I searched for 15 min and didnt find the answer.. Just one reply in scientific form..

The condition of the cat converter won't affect how the car runs, or it's tune. There are 2 o2 sensors, one pre-cat and one after the cat. The pre-cat one is crucial to car running correctly at idle and cruise (not at full throttle). It uses the O2 reading to determine if the car is running rich or lean at idle/cruise. The post-cat O2 sensor just verifies that the cat is doing it's job. It does that by comparing the pre- and post-cat O2 sensors to each other. Since the cat "converts" the exhaust gas makeup, the O2 value should be different after it's been run through the cat. If the 2 values are the same (if you removed the cat) you'll usually get a check engine light.

It sounds like your pre-cat O2 sensor (the important one) is not working correctly or not working at all. I've never heard of methanol/water/alcohol injection killing an O2 sensor, but anything is possible. I've been using meth injection for over a year (and injecting a lot of it) with the same O2 sensor and no problems. I know several other people running it without damaging the O2.

Your car is running rich like that because without the pre-cat O2 sensor reading, the ECU has no idea if the car is running rich or lean so just to be safe it adds a lot of fuel. Sounds like it's time for a new O2 sensor.

Ya .. did some trouble shooting and hooked up the laptop to see 02 #1 having 0.00 volts! And 02 #2 having 0.968 or something.. So the one run I did while injecting 75% alky 25% water mix killed it.. haha Yup.. tomorrow a new one will go in.. Anybody have a part # or anything on the cheapest 4 wire 02 and a diagram of which wire to which wire??? Thanks 99eclipsegsx for the reply
