Alky Kit falisafe Map Switching
Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know that I am offering harness' for the Aquamist HFS-1 (and HFS-5) Alky kits and also for the AEM Alky kits. These are to be used with Tephra's v5 Alternate Maps Patch. These harness' will automatically switch from your "Alky" tune to your "pump gas" tune instantly if you run out of water/alky or one of its failsafe triggers are activated. If you have a kit you would like me to try and create a specific harness for or you just have a question, let me know

How does this work? Can i for example have it wired so i can hit the switch and switch maps, for when im using the meth kit or when its off, cause i got my meth kit wired to an On /Off switch,
and also have the failsafe triger map switching if something goes wrong for example?
how easy is it for me to do this, i nstalled my meth kit myself, so im pretty handy with these things, but im no mechanic or anything like that...
thanks sorry for alll the questions,

The AEM harness is setup with a flip switch which turns on the alky kit and automatically switches the ECU to the Alternate map settings tuned for your "Water/Alky Kit" (you must reflash your ECU using Tephra's v5 patch for the alt-map feature...search the ECUFlash forum on here). When you shut off the switch, the AEM kit shuts off de-activates and the ECU automatically switches to the safer "pump gas only" tuned maps. Also, if the AEM falisafe is triggered at any point, the ECU instantly switches tot he safer"pump gas only" maps.
The ECU will stay in the safer maps until it sees the engine load drop below a specified load value (user adjustable thru ECUFlash). At that point it will allow the ECU to switch back to the "water/alky kit" maps if the failsafe trigger has shut off.
If you run this setup and also add a zeitronix wideband/boost sensor/EGT sensor combo, you can have the safer maps triggered whenavailable upon request only)

- Any Water/Alky kit failsafes are triggered
- You overboost
- AFR's go too lean
- AFR's go too rich
- EGTs exceed a maximum desired level

My brain is just not working today. I have a Blitz SBC-ID3 EBC and I plan on keeping it (sorry not a fan of EMS controlled boost). I'm thinking about getting a HFS-1 for my turbo upgrade. So if I get the "Tephra Patch" and have duel maps stored the maps change how just by turning on the WI system?

With the HFS-1 or HFS-5 kits once you turn off the alky kit, it switches to the regular pump gas maps. If your EBC has an input wire which allows it to switch between different boost settings, that can be incorporated into the alt-map harness as well. Controlling boost via the stock ECU, along with a GM 3-port boost solenoid with a JDM map sensor allows the boost settings to be switched depending on how you want your boost for each set of maps. If you want 22psi on pump gas but 28psi with alky, its done automatically for you. Nothing wrong with the EBC setup but the stock ecu is capable of far better control these days. The ECU disassembly guys really have the stock ECU working better than some stand-alones at this point.
