what everyone out there is using in their alky kit.

This thread can help those who dont know what to use or for those who dont have a methanol resource and needs to run some alternative resourse..

For example i was running %100 Denatured alcohol



i heard of guys running a certain winshield washer fluid

I know the famous mixture of %50 water and %50 methanol

but what else is everyone using

 

When I used it on my last car it was %100 VP Methanol.

 

I use Torco racing methanol

 

Heet (yellow bottle)

 

I have used everything from pure meth to water to washer fluid to alcohol to meth/nitro/water mixes...really depended on what I could get my hands on at the time and what I needed it for...

But there is a drag strip 10 min from my house that i can get meth from when there open so ill probally get some straight meth to run threw it also.

 

I think $24 a gallon for methanol is a little steep don't you OhsixIXBish?

 

$74 incl tax for 10gals of VP. My baby only drinks the expensive stuff.

 

I ran SLX denatured alcohol (ace hardware baby!) for a about 15 months in my SMC kit, then for about 4 months in my aquamist hfs-1, then switched to 100% methanol, then 75/25 meth/water, and now 50/50 meth/water. All seem to perform about the same, barring fueling changes necessary for the water mixes.

 

VP M1 i think it was $44 5gal when i bought it

 

100% VP Meth. I get it for $5 a gal.

 

VP M1 Meth is what I use and nothing else. I don't wanna screw anything up.

 

100% m1 methanol

 

methanol is methanol. find a source and get a good price about $4 a gallon for 99.99% pure last time I checked. look for chemical supply companies in your area or find a bio diesel forum.

 

anyone buying methanol from open containers and especially from race shop that sells race gas, check for fuel contamination as they might use the same pump for meth/gas. Gas will shorten the life of parts in a water/meth injection system.
