Need advice on tuning meth
Go for a 100% meth - shoot for a leaner a/f with a 100% meth ...like 12.0.
Some cars prefer less fuel more timing or more timing less fuel. You need to add timing to keep egt's at a reasonable level.
Hope you have failsafes on yoursetup.

theres a fail safe built in to the controller its just visual but Im going to buy there ifs-10 and boost by pass kit to kick it to wastegate. I use a innovate lc-1 so I cant use it like a zeitronix and set it up as a fail safe.
Besides at that point Id have about 4 box's sitting around 3 map sensors and the list goes on. Im running out of room to hide it all.
Even right now though I dont think Im going to shoot for lean afr that much. Im going to experiment on lean rich afr at peak torque see the which the car likes better. Its always been run 12.0 on spool. 11.5 at peak to about 11.3 to red line

Yah I was going to say that. Ive been tuning my own maps for my meth kit and I think I have been having good results.
I myself have upped my timing by about 6 points in general at peak torque and up from there to red line. Also have the boost up to 27 psi at peak torque tapering to a high 22 psi logged via jdm map.
Ive only added a degree of timing at a time and would adjust the meth from there. If I was getting knock after upping the timing I would either raise the gain on the meth kit or my horse power level and it would allow me to go even further. Im on a m7 jet right now spraying at about 60-70%. I still have a m10 jet and a dual nozzle upgrade.
Curious also as to what meth kit you are running ?

I was seeing about 6* advance across the board. But now that I ordered a GM boost solenoid I backed the timing down and Im going to test with more boost first. I would like to see a nice 30 psi spike and see what I can make it hold till red line.
I unplugged my wastegate because I was trying to figure out yesterday why I was only seeing 10 psi and come to find out the evc finally **** the bed. So upon unplugging the waste gate I saw a 38.8 psi boost spike I was like whoa didnt expect that. Probably a whole lot of hot air.

yeah I'm sure at that amount of boost on the stocker is mostly hot air at that point. Right now I'm on the AEM tru-boost and I'm spiking to 29psi and falling off to just about 22 at redline. I've tried lots of things to hold more boost up top (forge BOV, FP upgraded WG, preloaded the WG fully, WG helper spring mod, turning down the tru-boost's crack pressure so it doesn't spike as hard) but I guess I'm fighting a losing battle.
My 9 turbo is ported so maybe that will help some but we'll never know. I'm usually right around 22-23psi at red line with the HKS EVC. Once the GM comes in Ill test to see what I can hold to redline and go from there.
Id like to find a mustang dyno in my area and get some numbers after Im done and get it to the track soon.
With 28 psi and 21 degree's of timing of top evoscan's dll was showing 60 horse increase. The setting arent accurate but I just keep them the same and just see what the difference is.

So the question I have is: is it wise to run the turbo so high (I am guessing beyond it's efficiency) and is it just blowing hot air ? Has anyone logged the temperature of the air coming out of the turbine or even after the IC ? This goes back to one of my first questions ~3 years ago: at what point does adding more boost diminish performance vs. less boost and more timing ?

I've been wondering that too, but I guess for most people (including myself) the lazy way to make power is just turn up some boost. To be honest I've tried dropping a couple lbs (29 to 27) and work on fine tuning my afr/timing a bit...surprisingly I did match back my hp that I was at with the extra 2lbs but my tq fell off by almost 20lb ft. I didn't have an IAT at the time to log the temp to see whats going on, but in a couple weeks I will...
Raas -- My guess is you dropped your peak boost #, but not the boost towards redline, thus keeping the max hp about the same (just changing the peak tq numbers a bit). How are things going with your tune? Where are you with MIVEC, timing, and AFRs? And what % of H2O are you now using?
My tune isn't going that bad, right now I'm still running the mivec map that you showed me a while back, haven't really messed around with it that much since I don't have a great understanding of it. Right now I'm running 75/25 meth/h2o and my timing is not too bad, I'm hitting about 6* at peak and a smooth step up to 15* by redline. My AFR needs a little work though, well actually its just the spool up area that needs some attention. I have this rich spot that I just cant seem to get rid of, I have attributed it to the point when my meth comes on full spray. I've been real busy though and haven't had much time to tune, but I'm sure I'll get it out, just have to play around with my start/full spray settings.
I actually made a post in the advanced section:

What about you, how are things with your car? Sucks that we don't have better gas to work with huh?
in my experience with meth its always better to run more timing as opposed to over spinning out tiny turbos try running 26psi and adding a ton more timing. alky burns much slower than gasoline so it needs more timing to burn correctly. ie.. alcohol funny cars run 50 degrees advance timing lol just something to keep in mind
You can probably advance more timing at redline. Especially with water/meth. How does your Mivec look? Try putting zeros at redline. I'm sure you've read the mivec overlapping theory with to much timing in the mivec maps.
