What do you mean "stuck here for another 3 years". There's nothing wrong with here except for some heat issues for a few months. I just moved here from SoCal. I do miss the weather, but the standard of living in AZ vs CA is much better. I have seen hell and it is the 91 freeway. Or the 55 or 57 or the 405 or the 5 or the 10 or even the 15 (you should see the line of cars on a weekend going to Vegas - OMFG!). The list goes on and on.

Another downer about CA is that a bunch of hippies run the state now. There is always some kind of fiscal crisis. Or rolling black outs. Or ER rooms shutting down all over the state. We don't get that crap here in AZ. Plus, I daresay, overall it's much safer to raise a family in AZ than it is in CA because the crime rate is lower. And the cost of living is lower too.

The moral of the story - stick around for a while Evodrifter and Naj. We'll miss you if you leave!

Again, I am truely sorry about what you have experienced growing up in Phoenix, but its extremely difficult for EVERYONE, its about the system, not the race or color of the individual!! <exit soapbox>
i agree 100% Racism is EVERYWHERE. You cannot escape it no matter what city you go to and if you think that (to paraphrase) "being white would be easier" then you have alot to learn about life. This is because black and hispanic folks are certainly not the only ones to get hated on or discriminated against.

i like it here and wouldn't move back to Michigan ever again
Having said all that i do miss Michigan's 94 octane

I hate when people play the race card.. People treat you the way they do becasue of your attitude, not your color..

Oh and no i am not black, but my step father and half sister are, they just moved here from Ny and are having no problems.. You are carrying a chip on your shoulder, and you think the world is out to get you.. Seriously get over it.

i agree, maybe things are different in Tucson, but my roomate and a good number of our friends are black... They've had no real problems since they came down here, the only people that I can say really discriminate against them are cops. They're always getting pulled over for stupid **** that I would never have a problem with.

As for these people that apparently discriminate against you for your race, these people are just hicks, and they give anyone that isn't a hick ****. I had a guy follow me into a wendys drive thru and proceed to get out of his car and threaten me with a metal batton just because he thought I was driving too fast in his general area about 3-4 miles back.

I'm not doubting that there are racist people out there, but as it was said before, they're everywhere, and if you aren't living in an area where the minorities are the majority, you're gonna see a lot more of it.

DITTO....People get treated the way they deserve to get treated...it dosent matter if you are white black or orange...I am not in anyway saying that it doesnt happen...for I too have family members who are african american...dosent bother me one bit...I understand that there are certain people out there who are afraid of what they dont understand... but they are the MINORITY...not you...
