So Cal Update
Went in to tustin mitsu and had a long conversation with Chris, who I believe is the sales manager. Here's the scoop:
Tustin Mitsu
Mark-up: $5K for the next 90 days which will bring you to about $38K out the door...yikes!
Allocations: They have 6 comming on tonight. 11 Total for the next couple weeks. About 4 lightning yellows, 2 rally reds, 3 tarmac blacks, and a few apex silvers and one blue by you.
Irvine Mitsubishi(owned by tustin mitsu's owner)
Mark-up: $5K
1st allocation: They have 5 right now at the lot. Dont know the allocation details yet.
I told the guy he was insane for markup it up 5K. He told me that "for every one of you guys wanting MSRP, i've got 10 behind you willing to pay $40K" Highly unlikely, but hey, it's so cal. He was a nice, honest guy. He said my best bet is to wait 90 days for the markup to expire to see what I can get it at. He said middleaged men with the need for speed and opening up their checkbooks right there willing to pay the 38K. I told him I could walk across the street and pick up a 6 speed G35 for that price. He said what most of you guys say in here........that's not a good comparison. Well, to me it is. I've only got ONE wad of cash to spend and I want to make sure i spend it on something I like. IT IS a good comparison to me because it's two cars I love. The EVO isnt priceless and i'm not going to be a gouge victim.
I just want to say....thank you all you doctors and lawyers in so cal....THANK YOU for charging $300 an hour.....now we know where it all goes!!!!
Good day! LOL.
Rob
Anyone in socal, please post any info you may have on the EVO prices and allocations and your findings in here. We would totally appreciate it!

i appreciate the state of the union...er..state of the socal region address there, bud.
i might have to swing down to one of those this week (tonight?) and see. honestly, i can appreciate that there may be some people out there that have a somewhate flippant "i dont care about paying a $5k markup" attitude, but lots o fthose people get to that point in their life by being smart and making rational, well-thought out decisions, so i kind of think that that story (that the salesman, albeit a nice one, is spouting) is a bit conflicting.
i guess we'll see. i'm sure we'll bounce some more ideas off of each other around here in the future and i look forward to it. your topics tend to get my attention. (:

Hey Rob, Thanks for the information. I need to point out that Tustin and Irvine are different companys. Irvine is owned by the Tuttle Click people. While Tustin is part of a separate group of 5 or so Mitsu stores. I want to say Anaheim, Puente Hills, Tustin and 2 up north somewhere are under the same ownership.
From what I gathered today here's some more locations.
Escondido Mitsu: 1 Red, 1 Yellow. $5,000 markup
Kearny Mesa Mitsu: 1 White, 1 Blue. $5,000 markup
I believe someone else said the National City Mitsu had a few
and they were like a $7,000 markup. I think $5K is going to be the average for awhile.

I was at Ontario Mitsubishi (So Cal) tonight and the sales guy took me into their service department which was already locked up to show me the EVOs. They have five. Two silver, two yellow, and one black. They are so hungry to rip buyers off that they aren't even giving a number for the mark up. All the guy would say is that other dealers are marking it up $7500 to $10000. I am sure if I was willing sign on the dotted line at the spot, I could have got it for $5000 over MSRP. I just told him "good luck with it", and came home. I would have settled for a $500-$1000 mark up, but that's it. I am sure there are many out there with more money than sense, but I got work for my money, and even though I can afford it, I sure can't justify it. Ontario is supposed to get the most EVOs since they apparently are the highest volume Mitsubishi dealer. I told him to call me when he was willing to sell at MSRP, which probably might be never. I will give it another couple of weeks and go to plan B, G35 Coupe with a 6-speed.

Anyone know about the dealership in Costa Mesa, Ca by chance? I been talking to one of their salesman for about a month, and he told me he would call as soon as they get one in, if Tustin and Irvine have the EVO, I wonder why not Costa Mesa?
Costa Mesa Mitsubishi doesn't have any EVO's in yet. They told me this week, and one of the salesmen asked me what the price on the sticker was (I told him 32K, I think, suprised he didn't know that). I told him if he was willing to work something out, and not mark it up 10K like some of the other dealerships in the area, and he said yea, so we shall see.
I went by the dealership in Tustin, and the cars were going for 42K!!
. Besides, I have to wait for CM to take back my old '02 Lancer then get the EVO, but it was nice to see them up close. Before I left they put a red one in the show room.
