I spun out my Evo and slid sideways into a curb when it was only about 2 months old. It was a fairly hard impact -- both left side wheels ended up on top of the curbing and the splash shield (under the engine) on the entire left side of the car was basically torn loose from its fasteners.

I was worried about a bent up suspension, etc. Especially because the car just "felt wrong" after the impact. It turned out that I had one bent wheel which needed replacement, plus another wheel which was fine but out of balance because the wheel weight was knocked off in the impact. One of the sway bars was knocked sideways in its brackets, so it had to be loosened, re-centered, and tightened. I also had a full wheel alignment done just in case. But all in all, the car showed that it was pretty strong. It ended up being just cosmetic damage to the front lip and splash shield, one replaced wheel, and one rebalanced wheel.

I hope your damage is as minor as mine was...

macster,

thanks for the look out

jbrennen,

yeah my car spun out and went up into the curb, the wheel is bent, but looking under i dont see any damage with supsension, the rear wheel touched the fender a lil which caused a scratch mark and a little dent. no major body dmg, just some under scratches under the sidefender. But when i put the spare on and drove it home i had to turn the wheel kin dof to the left to keep it going straight.

If the steering wheel is only slightly off center, an alignment should fix it, although I'd look very carefully for bent suspension or steering parts. In particular, look at the tie rods. Many years ago, I hit a curb pretty hard in a Ford Escort and bent a tie rod, and the car started chewing through tires like you wouldn't believe. My mother had an accident a few years ago -- coincidentally also in a Ford Escort -- and had a lower control arm bent and also suffered with some ridiculous tire wear. With the price of tires on the Evo, make sure that the steering and suspension are straight now before it costs you more in tire wear down the road.

Also, any tire/wheel that impacted, even if it's straight, you should probably pay the $8 or so to have it rebalanced.

Just trying to offer my wisdom from previous experience on my part.

Ok I'm tired of being stock so I'm thinking of buying everything from RNR (if I can get a free install ) from the RNR HKS TBE, intake, LICP, UICP. The intake and UICP I'm not sure if it's worth it (I got a dropin) for the money. Is the LICP aluminum?

Also, anyone that uses the RNR HKS TBE know if you need a heat shield for the bumper? I heard your bumper can melt without a heat shield. Also does it really hang low? I seen pics it does look like it but I could be wrong. I wouldn't like to hit anything on a dip when going fast on these crappy SD roads. How's fitment? Other than that looks like a damn good priced TBE
