Uh..no. Having a car with no cat is breaking Federal Law and is a fine at about $2000.

^ same thing here in Jersey...but I think the fine is way higher than that here. Except we really don't have cops checking like they do there in Cali.
Get the shell of the Cat and weld it around your test pipe. I was going to do it to my SRT-4 when I had it.

um...10,000 is excessive...you can fight that and they'll lower it.

I couldn't agree with you more. I am aware that is the law. BUT I got away with nothing more than a fix-it ticket on a few occasions.

first theysend you to a ref. here in cali. that is if they dont see you shooting flames out your exhaust. Just throw the stock piping back on before you get there and u'll be fine. Just a hassle is all

+1, thats all that happend to me. SoCal cops aren't as bad as people make them out to be

I have learned that if you treat the officer with respect and admitt honestly when you are at fault they will be much, much more easy on you... that is if they don't just let you go

In CA, i think they charge you a certain fine PER cat missing...so if your missing a more than 1 than the total fine can add up

SRT motorsports told me if your car is basically just a street car and your looking for a lil extra power but not trying to squeez every ounce out just leave the stock cat in and get a DP and Cat back...this is what im going to do next week + a flash i will see how it feels

What they do is take your car and make you drive a Prius.
