Why is it that, import cars are always getting messed with in so cali? Tonight i got pulled over because i have a "modified exhaugst." I have an apexi muffler, and 2 1/2 all the way back, but i kept both headers, so it is smog legal. And it isn't loud at all.

It is ok for trucks and **** to be loud as hell but if it's a import your screwed. And the whole street race deffence is bull**** to.
My 120 hp lancer . thats fast, what is there justification for allowing 911 turbo's and such onto the streets.

Yep i hate it to, also what is funny is how people can raise there trucks 6 feet in the air and put flow master exhaust on them and have them be loud, but you cant lower your car or put exhaust on it??? tell me what that is about?

 

I think it all boils down to the fact that in america, if the is somthing that is popular, there must be a law to regulate it.

that and they are cracking down b/c some kid got killed last weekend by Oceanside, and guess what there was two highlighted words, IMPORT CARS, and STREET RACING.

Why should we all suffer because of a few ****ty drivers??

Lets face it, California just sucks! A modified exhaust isn't even an infraction anymore, but the coppers won't tell you that! I can't believe that they still pull people over for this! I bet that if we had some type of punitive recourse on the officer, they wouldn't harass us any more!

what pisses me off is the Harley guys that can run straight pipes that are so loud it hurts my ears in my car when they are next to me. I had rather conservative exhaust in my fd (racing beat) and I was pulled over last summer. I was maybe 1/4 in front of a pack (5 or 6 bikes) of harley guys that were easily twice as loud - guess who got pulled over. I am not anti-cop at all, I just want them to harass everone if they are going to pull me over & waste my time.

 

Gray Davis is a ****ing idiot...can't balance a budget...can't get decent laws passed without BS trailers attached to them....I bet his mommy has to hold his ***** when he pees too. CA is getting really ****ty...I wanna move!!!!

 

I think it's more the fact that when police see younger people driving nice cars the decide to be a dick. If it was like a 40 yr old driving a rice civic they wouldn't give them any trouble. I live in Mass and got pulled over the other night for not having my headlights on at 4:30 in the afternoon with a slight overcast. Now gimme a f*#@ing break! What was worse while I was pulled over by 3 CRUISERS! I don't know 80% of the vehicles that drove by didn't have headlights on. Now correct me if I'm wrong but in a city with a high crime rate, should it take 6 officers 45 minutes to run my f(#*ing plates? Well I guess those pussies are too busy hasseling 21 yr olds over bull**** than stopping the real criminals ****ing killing people and ****.

It sucks SoCal, but it's not just Cali.

 

actually that is not true, i had a truck lifted 6 feet in the air and I had an exhaust and i got pulled over every week with fix it tickets. The police were the whole reason why I got rid of my truck and got a car...

 

I recommend studying the laws' very closely. Most cops are dicks and if they have a bad day they will take it out on you. Cops are unfortuantly/fortuantly human and are able to mix outside feelings with there job. This is a good thing and a bad thing. For me I have a disgust for most cops, its not general because I know a lot of cops by face. Some cops have no clue what the law is, they are just people who take it in as a power trip. If you know the law on hand, use it to your advantage.

 

Just tell the cop to go do some real police work, because someone across the street is getting raped while hes writing you a smog ticket. Im a ****in dick to cops... get an attorney, have them fight the ticket for you.

My attorney charges $200 per infraction and has a track record of 4/5 with me

 

It's not just about knowing the law though, alot of these cops are pressed by local mayors trying to close budget gaps. I live in CT but work in NY. I have to deal with the NYPD AND the NY and CT state troopers. The laws are made up so they could stop you whenever they want. Right now they are cracking down on window tints up here, but I am sure pretty soon racing mufflers will be the next list item becaue EVERYONE is getting them. Last night I drove past a Minivan with a 4" tip
But I know Cali is ridiculous, they will whip out a tape measure to check out your body kits and all that. Pathetic.
