interesting news article about being Black in AZ...
http://www.azcentral.com/news/articl...file-main.html
there are several Black EVO owners there & they have attempted to curb the stereotypes (1 of which by owning an EVO & not a Cadillac) but still they have had trouble functioning in normal day to day life. they have had problems opening businesses, buying homes/cars, finding a decent dry cleaner, or even trusting a good day care. there is nothing for Blacks to relate to in AZ but they are in search of a new beginning in a fast growing city so i can't blame them for wanting a better life
When i bought the Land Rover in Scottsdale no one even bothered to approach me until i brought my white wife in. after that, i was pulled over 7 times in the 1st month. not speeding or breaking any laws. just didn't fit the "affluent soccer mom description" which is usually who owns an LR3. 1 officer accused me of being the Baseline Killer which at that point i laughed in face while reciting his badge number into tape recorder.
the point of the thread is that we must use the forum as a positive medium to bring equality into our lives regardless of where we live & who we are like it is in other countries.
2019 will be the 600th anniversary since the beginning of slavery & it's only been 37years (1970) since blacks were able to live integrated in AZ. i commend anyone who thinks outside the box & who refuses to conform to the stereotypes that people think we "should" fit in. yeah i listen to rap but that is my 2nd choice for music. Public Enemy said "Don't Believe The Hype!"

I feel you I bought my EB IX and I was with my white British wife and we were followed quite a bit by the cops. Yet , I never have trouble when I am in my Expedition.

Not hatin' but I'm just not feeling this. Who cares what people think? If it bothers you what people think about you then the problem is with you, not them. Plus, just how in the hell are you going to change someone's opinion by buying a car? That not the reason to buy a car, (well not mine) I buy what I want, because I want it, and I don't care what people think. I do know how to ask for the manager and/or the owner and I know what a lawyer is. Nope not feeling this at all, plus my brother in law lives in AZ and is loving it. It's not for me, it's too damn hot.

I lived in AZ for about a year up until August '06. I heard AZ only started to celebrate MLK day not but within ~10years ago. Any truth to this? Minorities in general are treaded like *** in AZ. I'm Indian and have had issues, one being trying to purchase my first '05 WW GSR.
You won't have much of a problem with racism if your Asian, unless you're driving a ricer mobile. I'm tired of hearing about racism. Just suck it up and deal with it. It's just a fact of life, or you can move to California. That's the best place to live in the U.S.A. if you are a minority.
Racism will never go away until everybody is one race and all have the same mindset. We all know that's impossible, because we are human. People will always look different, think different and be plain stupid. Oh wells.
You said it best the first time, "suck it up and deal with it." That's it in a nutshell, we all have our crosses to bear. If someone doesn't want your money or your business go elsewhere or if you feel that strongly it about sue them. Life is too damn short to spend dealing with stupid people.
