Las Vegas Evo's
New to the board
Hi guys,
I am in the market for a project car and the Evo sounds very interesting to me due to the relative low cost to make LOTS of hp. My goal is to build a car that can keep up with my friends modified sports cars. They drive supercharged ZO6s, Vipers and single turbo Supras. Is this a reasonable goal and still have a reliable car? I will primarily use the car for track events and roll ons with my buddies.
I would like to check out some of your cars when you guys meet at In N Out on Thursdays. Is there an official time you meet? How long do the meets last? How many Evos generally show up? Also, are there quite a few modified ones?
Thanks in advance and I look forward to meeting you guys.

i got it through evom. i think i paid $250 for a rim and the tire, you just gotta search around. youll find one
No Johns evo is black and rolling on gold volks. really stands out. also has some sweet evo 7 tails.
Oh yeah....we stopped by People's a little while ago. We were gonna see if Ashley (the guy that works in service who also owns an Evo) was working and have him take a look and make sure nothing else got f'd up when I hit the rock. Well, he no longer works there

yeah he was at last midnight mayhem. he just got a test pipe and downpipe, and i htink he put the wires on the test pipe wrong or something. im not sure, but he blew the wires or fuses or something, so the now
has it.
Cerberus, Sure, come out to the meet. We are all modded to some degree, but nothing major. Not very impressive compared to Viper's power if that's what you are used to.
As for an Evo keeping up with a modded Z06, Viper, I don't know. It's only a 2.0 liter. There are a few Evos running low 11s (still street legal) and one 9 sec Evo but fully race built. You are looking at 7 to over 10K in mods to get low 11 seconds and even then a Z06 is still close and still has the top end on the highway. The Evo is a good sprint car and track handler.
If you are a good driver, a moderatley modded Evo will hang with Z06s and Vipers at the road course tracks. If you are into dragging and straight line speed, look into the 04 SVT Cobra. A few mods will net you over 400 WHP easily and low 11s and it can take drag racing unlike the AWD Evo. The Evo's clutch is weak and even a stronger clutch will eventually take its toll on the transfer case and tranny. You can pick up a used Z06 for almost the price of a new Evo.
Point is, you have to really know how to drive the Evo to get the most out of it. You will run 14s at the strip where others car run low 13s with the same car but know how to drive. You could granny shift the Vette and still run 12s and low 13s.

Sorry to hear about your wheel. They are expensive to buy new and most want to sell them as a set.
John, Courtesy said your car was crazy fast. Must have road tested it.
