I hope you guys can help me. My friend got arrested for DUI. I bailed him out, and I know that he has to show up for court. I dont know what to do, as this is my first time. Im googling online to see the penalties for the DUI first offense, and it seems like going to court and paying the fines of $400 to $1000, dui school, paying drivers license reinstatement fees, and other fees, we could do on our own. We called several lawyers, and they want $3000 for their service. Does the price seem right? So my question is should we do this on our own, or hire a lawyer? If anyone has any experience or advice, please let me know!! Thanks
my advice, pay the 3000 retainer... you don't want to screw anythign up on your own that delays the process at all. Plus Lawyers know how to talk to judges. there are no shortcuts when it comes to dui's anymore... you pay the penalties. period. end of story. do not collect 200$. do not drink and drive.
