Jim I want to see your car in action dude, lol we need to have a outing and a BBQ. I'm thinking of setting one up, but I havnt thought of a date and time yet. I'll try to get with Eric Dlo so he can take pictures. I'm really leaning towards a sunday afternoon though. I will provide carne asada, hamburgers, and hot dogs, and whoever else wants to bring stuff.

I heard that slicks are just as good as treaded UNLESS there's standing water. Must be due to more (and softer) rubber trying to grip the wet surface than a treaded tire. Treaded will just channel standing water away to keep from hydroplaning.

I've only AX'd once in the rain at Hawthorne. Biggest problem is the exponential power curve. Once traction is lost, ALL wheels lose traction and you become subject to many of Newton's laws. Whereas all the rest of the time we're trying to prove that nerd wrong!
