Fort Bliss / El Paso Evo's.

I finally got back from the academy and have some more time on my hands. I haven't really been out other then back and forth from post to home and vice versa but noticed there are alot more of us Evo owners in the Fort Bliss / El Paso area, and quite a few of us are driving around in modded cars. Where are you guys getting your work done around town, if at all? I have a Megan turbo back exhaust I'm debating on having installed (still can't decide if I want to break it all out the shipping plastic or sell it and just go straight buschur parts), but it has been recommended to me I get a tune. When I first got the car back in 06 (First MR in El Paso / Fort Bliss, I checked lol) I took it to speed factory who sold me on some parts, plus installation, which really didn't help me out much at all, if not outright could've jacked up my car (an HKS VTA BOV comes to mind ). Minus one mod (AEM Intake) I've removed the others and gone back to stock . Please recommend me a shop who can do this. I've heard various things about there being only one place with an AWD Dyno (Western Techinal Institute, which the same guy who talked me into putting X amount of bad things into my car also works at or teaches at, I forget which), but I know there was once an up and coming shop named SVS or SVC something along those lines who was doing great work from what I heard by word of mouth.
If anyone knows any great shops in town please hit me up. Oh, and if you see another Evo owner doing the flash-flash with his headlights and throwing the peace sign, thats just me saying "whats up!" There's now three of us with the same model/color MR (Gray, Gunmetal, pewter, whatever) one is a middle-aged cat who lives on the west side, another soldier, and myself. I'm the one with the G.I.Joe and Air Assault Badge on the trunk.

2006 Evolution IX MR (Never trading it in until I see a respectable upgrade of newer model Evo)

my cousin is the Master Tech for nissan there in EPT, he got trained on the new GTR. im from El Paso and could of sworn theres a lot of evos there. if your always hanging out by ft bliss or the northeast side of EPT your missing out. theres a huge car scene there (not just lowriders) i was there for thanksgiving and saw a couple of Evo IX's (white and black) and even got to see an EVO X there too. i even saw a couple of 08 Lancer GTS's
Check out elpasoracing.com

just curious: how did you know your the first evo IX in El Paso?? with the population exceeding 700k it would seem crazy but awesome! hopefully u are bro! nice braggin rights for the EPT community

When I registered my car in El Paso back in early 06, they local registration office had to create a new listing for Evolution IX MR, they told me I was the first one. That could've been a mistake there as not every owner may have gone into the car's full name. However I did take it to the local mitsu dealership for its first oil change at 2700-3000 miles and they freaked when I pulled in because neither their dealership or the one in Las Cruces had one in their stock yet. As they explain it, they're like ford dealerships, they have to sell a certain amount of volume of cars in order to get "rights," I guess to sell the MR's. At Fort Bliss, they had to do the same thing with adding MR to the listing of vehicles on installation when I registered the car. I know we had some 7's and 8's, but no 9 MR's until March/April 06.

wuz up man. If you see a BBY Evo 8, that is me. I just got to EPT in July 08. I have not heard of any good Evo tuners there. I have always purchased my products via the web from select vendors and had my car tuned at MZM in Austin, TX twice. I normally do self install unless it is something major that needs an immediate tune. I am very picky who touches my car. I caught a whisper of some place in NM called Domestic ????. I got that from one of the gate guards that rolls an STI. Good luck on the search.
