Cars and coffee
So I'm guessing yours was one of the three white Evo Xs parked next to each other on Saturday?
Nobody's "hiding" in the parking structure, and it's plain ignorant think that someone isn't "worthy" of driving the car if they don't feel like flaunting it. I love my car but I don't feel a need to take up a spectator spot for a bone stock car that isn't hard to find in the wild. Besides, there are still Porsches and Ferraris that park in the structure. For the record, I don't think most Zs, Vettes, Mustangs, etc. belong there either, so I'm not sure where that notion came from.
I think most people go there to see cars that they either don't see everyday or couldn't just view at a local dealership within five or ten miles. So for the same reason that common variants of today's widely available Mustangs and such seem a bit out of place, I'd say the same for Evos, so it's not as if I'm being biased or holding different cars to different standards or "selling the Evo short." I'd say that there are exceptions... upcoming models (like when Mitsubishi brought a GG X MR to a past C&C before they were released), less common current models (like if it were the newest Mustang GT500 that not every Ford dealership will get), etc.

Sarcasm is a lost art, sorry if you took parts of what I said too seriously.
I get you. But if that were the case, the lot would be about 30% full. I can drive less than 10 miles away and see a lot full of brand new exotics on a showroom floor. Actually I think I can find a showroom full of exotics closer than a showroom full of Mitsu. The show to me is more about having a lot of cool cars in one location. It's for people who like cars to walk and talk. To meet people. To see their "pride and joy" I agree with you to an extent, I wouldn't want to see a stock Toyota Camry, but the Evo is much less popular on the streets of South OC than a Camry. I have had people ask me what type of car it is. I bet they don't ask the Ferrari or Porsche guys that. Does that make the evo special? NO, but it tells me that the Evo isn't something people see every day which fits your qualifications to be in the lot to some extent. I would 100% agree with you if the lot was full of exotics and cars like you described, but it isn't. So why not make the lot full with other cool cars? The bigger the party the better.
This isn't a classic car show, thank god, I am not into classics, It has a little of everything which makes it great. The day the lot is full of Exotics and classics I will gladly park down the street. But I would rather see a lot FULL of all kinds of cars than a 30% full lot of just a few kinds of cars.
I am not naive, I know the Evo isn't a Lambo, Porsche GT, LFA, etc, but it is a cool car and if there is plenty of room to park it with the others cars, why not?

This weekend was kind of lackluster though, I was hoping to show my friends from out of town cooler stuff since I had been texting them pictures of more exotic cars (Veyron, Venom GT, F40, etc.).
Yea it's hit and miss. I haven't seen an F40 in months. Never seen a Bugatti there. I really want to see, actually hear a LFA there. It was a full lot though. The previous couple of weeks were pretty dead.
I don't go a lot (maybe once every two months, give or take), but I remember seeing an F40 there in early September, as I took my dad and my brother there since they happened to be in town, visiting San Juan Capistrano. I think there was also a purple Vector there that day, and the owner was showing off and driving through EVERY row before he left. I've only seen a Veyron there twice (a black and red one in early 2010, then an all-red one this past summer). I saw a yellow LFA around this time last year, and then there was another time where I ended up not going and then Lexus had brought a matte black LFA there before the car had been officially released.
Yeah, I know what you mean, but I didn't mean to say that the event should be full of just 30+ year old cars. And yes, there are a ton of dealerships here that have fancier cars... i.e. whichever dealership is on Harbor Blvd (where the old Newport Lamborghini dealership used to be until they moved to Baker St), the various ones on PCH (Newport Ferrari/Maserati, Phillips, Sterling BMW, McLaren, Porsche/Audi, etc.), but those kinds of dealerships aren't common to people not from that area. There are a lot of people who do drive from pretty far away, and some of them may not be in areas as affluent as this part of OC, so I think they want to see some stuff that you and I might be able to see at dealerships not far from us.

Would be sweet to have a Veyron show up since I've never seen one in person. I had a LFA come in at my work today and the owner rev'd up a few times. Sounded damn good in person.
