Tactrix in San Francisco is hiring a customer support representative
Tactrix is a small, successful company which has helped create a thriving DIY automotive tuning community over the last 8 years by providing an open-platform of OBD2 hardware and software tuning tools for ECU reflashing and data-logging. To help support our large worldwide user base, we’re hiring a new customer support representative, which will increase our workforce by 50%.
The position is primarily focused on helping users with issues they encounter, but has the ability to grow into more depending on the employees skills and interests. Shipping and receiving are also part of the position, although they only take up part of the workday. We are a small but efficient company, so there are lots of hats to be worn and for the right individual there are opportunities to work on web site updates, product documentation, repairs, community outreach, marketing, minor coding, and a lot more. We have many more projects than hours in the day.
While the position would initially be focused on customer support and order fulfillment, it isn’t important to us that you have extensive support background. We feel this is something that can be learned. We do want someone who has an understanding of cars and the DIY culture. It’s more important that you understand these concepts because we can’t easily teach them.
Some skills that would be a plus:
• DIY electronics / automotive / computer aptitude
• Know your way around a computer reasonably well. You don’t need to know how to build your computer from scratch, but if something goes wrong you’re able to research and fix it. We keep our machines at work running well, but some customers can be another story.
• Windows troubleshooting experience
• HTML / CMS editing experience
• Organizing data and writing instructions
• Understanding of fundamental electronics, including resistance, continuity, voltage, and how to measure these things with a multimeter.
Some traits that won’t be helpful:
• You find that you frequently get start online forum arguments and you don’t know why.
• People would say that you aren’t particularly punctual. This position has fairly regular hours.
• People would say that your work space / shop space is really messy.
Our office is located in the SoMa area of San Francisco. You need to be able to commute there reliably Monday through Friday. Because we’re a small company working out of a funky office space / workshop, our perks aren’t the same as a corporate job, but you won't feel like you are wasting your time in pointless meetings either. We do offer full medical coverage and more than competitive pay, so for someone this position will be a great fit.
If you’d like to learn more, send us an email with your resume attached to jobs_2013_05@tactrix.com and include your name and "Tactrix customer support position" in the subject line. Include a little about yourself [such as] recent interesting projects you’ve worked on, your level of automotive competency, and what you’re up to now. If you can point us to any how-to write-ups you’ve done, that would be a bonus.
Thanks for reading!
