How to move car to Cali from the east coast?
Has anyone moved to CALI from the EAST coast?
I don't want to put the miles on the car and I have to either tow my car or have it shipped there.
Any suggestion or help would be cool

I have moved back and forth 2 times and the first time i shipped a car. I will never do it again. Took 23 days, and the car looked like it went through the Dakar rally.
Second time I drove. Took 4 days, car was with me, washed it along the way. No problems. Did not mind the extra miles. At least I had the car with me.
My sister trailered her car with a Ryder truck. That worked out okay, but slow going. She had the full carrier, not the tow bar or two wheel trailer. That's okay if you want to move your own furniture and move everything at once. Good luck.
Also shippers will charge in excess of $1000 to ship you car. I figured I did $200 in gas, 3 nights in a hotel at $75 each and food. You put miles but you save $$. Good luck.
Note: these trips were before the Evo.

I got some good responses when I asked about trailering with a u-haul. Here's a link.

Hey, when I moved to cali I drove my car. However, my best friend shipped his STi through a great company called AAA advantage I believe. They were great. The car was their in 10 days no problems they even washed it. You need to go with a carrier company not a contractor that they give your car to some one else to ship. It was not cheap but it’s worth it, $800. Hope that helped

It's ashame that you are so concerned about the mileage. 2k might seem like a lot. but in the grand scheme of things, 2k is a drop in the bucket!
Driving across the country is one of those great adventures that most people want to do, but never get around to. You have the opportunity to take this once in a lifetime trip. You have the opportunity to take it in a kick *** car!
I have done the trip twice. When I moved from VA to CA, I drove my Evo. Sure I put 2k miles on it getting it here. But I also got to drive on old rte 66. I got to wind up the car on the open straight highways in New Mexico and Arizona. I got to cross through thousands of miles of corn stalk lined roadways. I got to see huge thunderstorms brewing on the horizon hundreds of miles away. I got to sample life in 11 different states. It was a great time!
I shipped my second car directly to CA. We beat it into CA by 2 weeks. It cost $1300 (since it's a fragile classic car) to ship across the country. It was out of my sight and control for 3 weeks time.
My Mini certainly made it to the destination safely.....but where's the fun in sending your only car, when you can drive it?

Try Passport which is now owned by Fed Exp or UPS, forgot which. I have shipped two cars with them in the last 3 years over 1000 miles one time and 2000 another. Enclosed, no problems.

me too. my friend and i drove from VA to CA. it was was too much fun. However he was crazy and he wanted to get their quick. Although we got a blown tire we still made it in less than 48 hrs......... Love the roads of TX. I was over 160 mph for couple miles. its a wide empty rd with nothing but sand on the sides.
Thanks for the suggestions. My company will pay for the move either way but after looking on mapquest it is only 2,100 miles from Atlanta to San Diego.
Not a bad drive. This is once in a lifetime drive that I may never get to do again. If a friend goes with me I will do the trip.
