Which dealer can order me a MR in Sol Cal?
I need help from you guys, I am interested in ordering the MR and actually talked to 2 dealers in my area.
Alhambra Mitsubishi basically just ignored me and said they don't know anything about the MR. Freeway Mitsubishi in Monrovia is by far the worst "car" dealer i have ever been to. The salesperson is nice but he doesn't know anything. The manager is a total jacka** who has a attitude problem. He said the MR only exist in UK and Australia and if i want one, I will need to import it myself. He said it was just a bunch of kids on the internet spreading the US MR rumor. And he is the "MANAGER" of a Mitsubishi dealer so he has special inside information. Of course, its no point for me to argue with him. I just politely ask him if he can take my deposit first and we will just wait to see if the MR will gets here or not. But he just told me to go home. BTW, they still have a $5000 markup on 03 evo.
I understand the dealer want to make extra money on hot upcoming model and do a little price gouging ($10,000 markup?) when the car hits the showroom. But if he doesn't want to accept preorder or the MR is really not bound for the US. Can't he just say their pre-allocated MRs are all spoken for and he can't accept anymore preorder??
Anyway, can anyone please let me know if there is any honest/professional dealer in California that is currently accepting preorder? I just want to buy the car at MSRP without getting mistreated by "stupid" car dealer.
TIA

i agree with freeway mitsubishi being the worst. I saw the red 03 evo your talking about with 5k markup..its ridiculous. The blue 03 for was also ridiculous. I agree about the manager being a jackass. Big guy thinks hes all that and know everything. When i asked why they are marking up 04s..he said it has special racing rims and tires, special racing spoiler, special suspension and some other bull****. I was gonna just walk out and leave but i thought ide try giving one a test drive just for the hell of it but they didn't let. So i left. DON"T GO TO FREEWAY MITSUBISHI IN MONROVIA
Did you think that maybe dealerships aren't accepting pre-orders? Maybe the manager wouldn't take a deposit or preorder, because, oh i don't know, he can't take a pre-order yet?
Guess you'll have to wait like everyone else

No offense, my point is if the dealer is not accepting pre-order or take deposit, it's perfectly fine. And I fully respect their business decision. Its their demeanor that really disappointed me.
Yes, I am expecting to wait like everyone else. When I bought my current car, I've paid msrp and wait 8 months for the car to be built. And I was very satisfied with the salesperson and the dealership. The sales explained to me that there is no discount and the setup which I ordered was uncommon, therefore it takes time.
I've purchased no less than 12 new vehicles in the past 15 years, but none are as bad as the Mitsu dealers. Just wondering if Mitsubishi is doing bad because of their "low" quality dealer network. Again, anyone know if there is any good dealer that will sell me a car.

I'd expect that you will get a better answer from the folks in the West Coast regional forum....moving thread now..
My suggestion would be for you to give Huntington Beach Mitsu a call. They are far and away the best dealership in the area.

yes, but how can you pre-order a car that is in "speculation" of being released...sorry, im gonna get flamed, but it may be announced...however, yet to be released for pre orders...cause some kid posts a couple of pictures of a car that is "supposed" to be a MR, does not mean there actually is one. Think about this, when questioned why the car does not look like an MR, the answer given is "well it is a test mule, so it wont have the outside that looks like an MR", well if thats the case, then why the MR looking roof "if its not supposed to look like an MR"
it was a staged picture for some kid who likes attention.

Regarding your comments about those spy shots of a test mule. That car is an MR. It just has some cosmetic cues tossed on to it to make it look (from 20feet) like a normal US Evo 8 so no eyebrows are raised when it passes you on the freeway. The only things on that car that are not MR-issue are the headlights and taillights, seats and center shifter console....all of which are US Evo 8 items.
I was able to preorder my ITR months before they were announced officially. I was also able to preorder my Evo before any official Mitsu announcements were made about its release. Most saavy dealerships will take a $500 deposit on a future car. If the car never makes it to production, or if you get sick of waiting, you just go back and get that deposit refunded.

Thank you for the info guys!
I've just got off the phone with Peter @ HB Mistu. He "indirectly" told me that their dealership is not taking any pre-order for the MR, because they want to substantially mark up the MR. And the latest news he heard is the MR will be here by Januaray, 2005.
They have a $2k markup on 04 and they are selling a demo yellow 03 with high spoiler for $25999. The demo 03 has 300 miles on it.
I totally agree HB Mitsu is very professional and very informative. If I am buying a Mistu, I would definitely go to them. But seems like my only option now is a 05 STI. I was told that Subaru dealers are selling the 05 @ msrp or $500 below msrp.
