I'm curious about the boost spike as well. My car with P2 exhibits the same behavior. Is there any way to prevent it short of adding a MBC? Won't that defeat the exquisite ECU boost control that the P2 has?

Also, doing some ratio math on caymandiver75's dyno graph to get crank figures (lots of problems with this assumption of course - mostly that we're examining 2 different cars, but just for fun):
hp: 264/217 = x/271; x = 329
tq: 259/235 = y/273; y = 301

That's pretty good and with an aperture I would guess peak power would jump 10hp. That means Works is way underrating their staged power estimates because we're at 340hp without cams!

Yeah, WORKS is probably one of the few companies that actually does underrate their staged power estimates. I can only assume this prevents people from coming back with negative comments on the products and gives all us consumers a larger smile when we find out just how much more power it does make compared to what it is claimed to make. Way to go WORKS!.... you guys haven't disappointed me yet.

During testing, WORKS found that some EVOs in 100% stock trim exhibited boost spikes. As long as the spike is just a spike, there shouldn't be a worry. As you can see on the attached graph, a P2 will jump to the same levels as stock. The difference is that the P2 doesn't taper, but maintains its boost level throughout the entire RPM band.

Its more about drivability than making more power. Your car loses like 30ft lbs right after that big tq rush from the turbo spooling up. I know mine felt like it was falling on its face and bogging down before getting going again. The a/f graph also corresponds with this feeling.

The reason they do it this way is so it looks stock, not because it is necessarily exquisite . The stock solenoid works great for a stock car like in the graph posted by Jamie, however things change when you start flowing better like when you add a tb buschur exhaust as you can see from caymandiver75's graph. If you stick to WORKS products this may not be the case, but from the cars I have experience with, the more you flow, the less the stock solenoid is capable of keeping up and tends to overcompensate for the spike before leveling off at 19psi. Again the spike really isn't a problem unless you are hitting fuel cut.

My boost doesn't fall off with the P2, and never has. I have since added full 2.5" UR turboback exhaust and still no problem. Recently, I added a Forged DV, and my boost gauge shows rock solid boost holding at like 21 at WOT with abosolutely zero loss. Car feels very strong.

I also have a short 1.6mb video of the car dynoing, but have no idea how to post it.

Doesn't sound very loud - maybe because the mic isn't near the exhaust. What gear was that, it didn't sound to be that high in the rpm range.

Yeah the exhaust really isn't all that loud, just sounds good and yeah it is a bit louder than what is seems in the video because of where the mic is located. Pull was done in 3rd gear and run just over 7000rpm.

Hey Jamie,

Why does the power curve have that distinct dip?

On post #8 the curve peaks at 264 hp then immediately drops to about 230hp, and slowly works its way back up to roughly 250 hp. The Torque curve has a slight dip at about the same RPM as well. Love that torque curve by the way!

You have the TQ and HP lines confused with each other.
