custom 264 P2

After 3 agonizing days of having my wife drive me to work, no EVO and 2 Fedex overnights across the country, i finally have my ECU back from Works and in my car.

I installed HKS 264 cams and a 2.5" down pipe in additon to an HKS intake and SS cat back on an existing 03' p2 flash and nursed it around spluttering for the last week. I was aprehensive as i didn't have Works cams and i was honestly worried i wouldn't feel a huge difference after the re-flash as it felt kind of crappy after the cam instal. Or even worse, less low end than stock with my relatively restrictive exhaust (stock cat).

anyway,
Started right up, idle is still a lil' rough, manifold vacum dropped predictably. It used to idle at -.60~-.63hkpa and now it idles at -.50~.55hkpa (Blitz TT/boost gauge, 1hkpa=1bar )

After it warmed up, i got on it a bit. Nice job Works! I may never dyno it but, it feels solid, real solid and pretty much everywhere in the rpm band. Places it used to bog now pull(2.5k~3k), from 3k~5K made crazy wheelspin in the rain tonight scary. I only got it past 5k a few times, 3rd gear WOT scared me and i put it away for the night. I left it stumbling on the turbo timer with a big grin on my face. I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow AM.

Thanks

1 wk. follow up

After driving the car for about a week I am pleased to say my evo is indeed a different animal now. Not sure how much to attribute to the updated P2 software or the cams or both but F*** did it make a difference!

Choppier than I expected with mild cams and flash but I like it and it has not stalled yet, even when coming to a quick stop etc.
