well the first thing i think WORKS should think about designing is how to make a regular lancer with drivetrain FF into a real EVO with AWD. that is the one thing i would really like to know because i know if you fix it up from the bottom instead of buying a AWD at the dealer is a lot cheaper.

Hey Guys,

Nice to see you on the forum and we look forward to attending more Lancer meets in the future -- except we'll be showing up in the WORKS Evo next time (that car was actually a Dinan turbocharged, all wheel drive, E30 series BMW 325ix -- an early predecessor to the EVO?).

The shop in San Francisco will be opening later this month. Stay tuned!

Apexlancer you have a point there, But that`s easy to do. We at IMS in Florida has built two allready based on the Mirage body and now we start a Lancer OZ rally that I personaly own. Wen we finish this one, I`ll post pictures and data for all of you to enjoy. But don`t take credict from David and his company, Who knows if we end having the best Mitsubishi Lancer Evo tuner company in U.S.
Keep up David!

Honestly, you'd be much better off buying the Evo straight up. It costs more than you think to convert FWD to AWD, not to mention the suspension upgrades, body reinforcements, engine rebuild to handle lots of boost, new brakes, new exhaust, clutch, flywheel, tranny, etc. You can easily spend in excess of $15,000 on top of the $15,000 it cost to buy a regular Lancer.

Some people think the same thing about converting a FWD VW GTI to AWD. It costs a buttload to cut the chassis, weld in a new floorpan, etc. It'll never be the same as what you get from the factory unless you spend money out the rear. Or... I should say that it costs a ton of money to do it right. And, unless you work for a tuner and have connections, you'll pay beaucoup dollars for labor.

We will be giving local Evo fans a sneak preview of the WORKS project car at Hot Import Nights in San Mateo this Saturday before its big debut at the International Auto Salon at the end of the month.
