Works: Any plans to retrofit the MIVEC system on an evo8?

I'm sure this would be very expensive and the cost wouldn't justify the gains. There are much better modifications to sink your money into.

i never drove an 8 but i think it would be pointless. plus there is only one choice for cams right now and its hella expensive.

MIVEC only helps emissions, fuel economy and puttering around town when your mom is driving your car. And only a small benefit to them at that.

The additional drivetrain mass and lack of good cam options would guarantee you LESS power with MIVEC.

So yeah, I'd go ahead and skip that swap if I were you.

just get a set of cams for your 8... the extra power on the IX comes from a 7% larger turbo

Greetings,

Changing an VIII to Mivec is not even close to being worth it considering the effort and cost for doing the swap. Probably in the same category as trying to fit the 6-speed into a non-MR. You can get plenty of power out of the VIII that would have you laughing at the Mivec.

Give us a call if you really want to do this, but then again we might talk you into stuffing a Z06 motor into your EVO for some drifting fun instead. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Cheers,

Oliver Simons
