Few questions about lancer reflash

I'm considering going with the reflash as opposed to a piggyback since I have no tuning experience and don't want to deal with all the problems associated with changing temperatures (a major issue in Canada). What actually gets changed with the reflash? My mods are intake, bored throttle body and intake manifold, headers, exhaust, and high compression (10:1) pistons. What kind of gains could I expect?

Wish I could help, but don't know a thing about the regular lancer reflashes. Hope it gets more attention with this one post.

Even if I wasn't a 20 year old university student I still couldn't get an evo since I'm in Canuckland.

Am,

I am currently running the WORKS P2r flash with WORKS catback and StealthWORKS muffler and didn't have one problem with the winter in Minnesota this last year, and you of all people should know we get your COLD artic blast here right in the middle of the Mpls., St. Paul area and get well into the sub 0 temps.

I have had no problems with driveability on my EVO with any WORKS product in the cold frigid winter temps or humid 90+ degree days here in Minnesota (no surge, hesitation, cold start issues, etc.).

WORKS on their website says they are able to flash the stock Lancer ECU via the following -

WORKS Brain Flash $399.00

Our brains control our vitals. A Lancer's ECU is no different. There is no single more valuable tool available to any tuner than the ability to access the car's brain and reprogram it to perform to its fullest potential -- especially after tuning parts have been integrated into the system. No piggy-back add-ons that intercept and falsify signals to the factory ECU and no standalone engine management systems compromising Mitsubishi safety functionality. The WORKS Brain Flash is the factory ECU that has been reprogrammed with WORKS Performance Software optimizing all applicable maps including the air/fuel ratios, ignition timing, and calculated rev limit. WORKS was the very first EVO tuner in the U.S. to reprogram the factory ECU. Our Software Engineers have been disassembling U.S. Mitsubishi code since April '03 and have software control unparalleled in the industry. With the Brain Flash, expect a 12+ HP peak gain but more importantly a broad, usable, power curve with no other modifications that is very safe and reliable. In addition, expect smoother drivability and improved gas mileage. Nothing comes close to the plug-and-play performance and reliability of the WORKS Brain Flash.

The ECU can be reprogrammed back to stock if necessary and, of course, is backed by our Factory Matched Warranty.

*Custom tuning is also available. From just one gear at wide open throttle all the way to multiple gears at various throttle positions. Please call for details.

Application: '02-'05 Lancer ES, LS, and OZ Rally (Manual Transmission only) Ralliart Lancer coming soon. Please download and complete the Brain Flash Checklist when ordering.

HOPE THIS HELPS...

That's good to hear about the weather thing, that's one of the main things making me lean towards a reflash since people have had problems with RRM's piggyback and systems like greddy emanage. Be nice if a WORKS representative could comment on my particular setup.

Sorry, it's been pretty busy and me taking some vacation certainly didn't help

Back to your original question... I can't say exactly what changes without giving away some proprietary info. However, I can say fuel and timing are the key points of change. We leave certain parameters in place to account for changes in temperature, elevation, etc... so that you maintain the driveability originally present from Mitsubishi. Please let us know if you have any further questions or would like to arrange for your ECU to be loaded with the WORKS Brain Flash software.

What's the turn around time on the ECU? I'm from Canada so I can't really be without my car for 2 weeks. Can you account for mods like high compression pistons without actually having my car there?

i noticed in the item description you said custom tuning is available. so if i were to give you an ECU that will be used only for when i get my turbo in, could you preload better timing and fuel to account for the turbo setup? i guess kind of like having an safc or something but flashing it into the ecu? and i'm assuming that raising the rev limiter and removing the governor isn't a problem?

That would not be a good idea. Tuning without having the car for turbo is not as straight forward as tuning for N/A.
