Help with a few things Plz!

Ok heres the deal. i have the works high flow drop in filter already, looking for a tbe and the works p2 flash.... now i live in ca so i dont want anything loud, and wanna be legal. If i get the package with the dp, hf cat, ip, and the exhale muffler, how loud would this setup be?? i understand with the hf cat i wont throw a cel correct?? and i was reading somewhere that with the 70mm dp theres better tq than over the 76mm... so anyways, what would u guys suggest for each piece i get (like which dp, ceraminc coating, which muffler etc etc), assuming i want to make good power but try to stay quiet.... these 3 things will be the only mods this car will see for a very long time so keep that in mind.(3 things = filter,tbe,flash)..... thanks for any input from anyone who can help!!

if you are going for a sleeper set up then i would go works 76mm o2, dp, and hfcat but get the rsr exmag exhaust system...imo
--then get the p2 flash

the exhaust isn't much louder but you will definitely hear(more deeper tone...and none of that baffled noise) and feel the difference....im sure dyno numbers could tell too...but the works stealth muffler(oem one modified) is a nice piece as well as the 76 mm piece...all pieces fit like stock too

these products are top notch and warrantied buy them...so your money is well spent

so you are suggesting the 76mm dp, hf cat, and rsr exmag or works stealth muffler? if i go with all works stuff im sure ill get a better deal... will the stealth muffler help keep the setup quiet?? and would this setup work well with a works drop in filter& ps flash? how much power you think i could make on the dyno?? - thanks for the help. - steve

I have a WORKS catback set up and 70mm downpipe and I can say that the noise is not an issue. The tone is nice and deep but not super loud at WOT. I can't testify to your dyno # question, but their exhausts make decent power, look and sound great, and are built VERY well.

High Flow Cat will pass smog but the oem cat will pass the required dp noise level for Cali. I should know, I've seen the state ref this yr.

eh but if i use the oem cat then i wont get as much power with the setup...I hate silencer's on exhausts as well... ahha im kinda figuring out theres really no way to make the most power, and be quiet at the same time.... is there any TBE out there you can purchase that actually sounds similar to stock and makes as much power as the other ones do??

I just have some feedback on the RSR EX Mag exhaust here in So Cal - works great! I'm an "older" guy, been there and done that with loud, droning exhausts - The RSR exhaust rocks, it's black, it has a "normal" looking (chome like stock) tip and from behind it really looks no different from stock. With just cat back exhaust the RSR sounds no louder than stock, and pleasant at WOT, NO drone at any RPM. I'm currently running 3" DP with Megan resonated TP and yes it got louder at WOT (you hear more of the air rushing through than just noise), there is still no drone if you keep very light throttle at cruise (65-75mph), not much lift-throttle deep base (the kind that makes your ears tired). If you decided to cruise at 80, it'll be louder and will fatigue. If needed short shifting (shift before 2500rpm) and very light thottle will make acceptable noise anywhere - yes you can skate by The Man. This setup is on the threshold of what's tolerable IMO for a "quiet" ricer racer in congested So-Cal streets. If you gun it in the wrong place you're running the risk of being questioned ("stock" tip helps, keep the front license plate on and the lame stickers off!)

I have the Fujitsubo Legalis R exhaust on my car. I haven't heard many other exhausts but I used to have a HKS Hi-Power and that was significantly louder. The Fujitsubo is quiet inside the car and still pretty quiet from the outside. However, on WOT it sounds sexy. The exhaust also manages to maintain a "stock" like appearance.

I have gotten pulled over by the wonderful police authorities with the HKS exhaust and they mentioned something about my exhaust every time. I have gotten pulled with the Fujitsubo exhaust as well and they never said anything. One girl cop even said that she thought it was stock.

You could also go with the WORKS "stealth cat" option which takes the stock cat and puts 3" (76mm) ends on it. The stock cat does flow well when compared to most production cars out there. It is a bit of a compromise, but another option for you to consider.
