Truth about longevity
Truth about longevity
I am concerned about an article that I have read about the 4g63 stock (no stroker) motor, although more than capable of handling 400 plus awhp (with bolt-on’s, cams, etc…) will NOT be capable of lasting the long haul? Although my plan isn’t to abuse the motor on weekend trips to the track, but on occasions I’ll have a brave soul pull up on me at the light and well you know it’s nice to know I have the extra HP’s under the hood just waiting to get out and stretch abit!!! I know it’s only common knowledge that parts wear over time, depending on style of driving of course. So my question is pertaining to longevity, is there any truth to this? How long should I expect everything to work before I have to rebuild my motor (to a stroker)?
Sorry fellas I cant find that damn article

Well I can only speak for myself and for the Evolutions that I have owned. If properly maintained you should have no problem with longevity. I have personally installed multiple bolt ons (tbe, intake, mbc, clutch, etc) and the car has over 25k on it with out issuses other than the stereo system killing batteries. I currently own a 76k mile Evo with similar bolt ons and other than an issuse with the AEM program, mechanically it is fine. So if you can pay to properly take care of your car you should be just fine.
You take care of the 4G63 and it will take care of you
There are some exceptions, but most hold up very well. Our highest mileage customer is well on his way to 200,000 miles. He's one of our original WORKS TR-303 customers and does a lot of freeway driving. We have a few others around 100,000 with the WORKS TR-340 (and more) holding up just fine with several track days under their belts. Overall, the engine is very stout. Just keep on top of regular maintenance and all should be well.
