WORKS Flash with VTA BOV

David, I am close on making the reflash purchase. I wonder if it is ok to run my BOV VTA. Will I experience the bog from running rich in between gear changes. Is it in your interest to make a flash for VTA BOV's. I would want my reflash to start with that mod and then reflash it again after my TB exhuast. Thanx!

If WORKS ever come out with a BOV, you can name it BURP or BELCH!!

DO NOT VENT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE IN A MAF SYSTEM!!! NEVER EVER. IT ONLY SOUNDS COOL.

You car will miss its air flow counts and dump fuel based on air that has just been vented into the atmosphere.

Maybe the Flashed ECU can compensate for the lowered air readings.

your correct on a stock EVO. We are curious if their reflash can take care of this problem.

Reprogram MAF to MAP. Fuel problem solved.

As long as you have a MAF system, no amount of reflashing or tuning will allow the car to understand you are venting. BUT if you go with a stand alone system that get rid of teh MAF system entirely, then you will not only have an increase in power from notr haveing th erestrictive MAF but you will be able to tune everything you want perfectly on a dyno, timing, ignition, fuel map, compensate for intake temps, everything.

so are we ever gonna get an answer to this one?i completly understand the whole issue and i understand that vta has no benefit but to sound cool, but hey thats what i want and i would like to know if the reflash is gonna fix it or not?

Well I realize that Works hasn't responded formally to your question yet, but Umiami80 gave you the answer above. In no way can any reflash compensate for a VTA BOV.

Think about this. The EVO's stock Karman air flow sensor (MAF) reads the amount of air passing through from the air filter into the turbo/intake and sends a signal to the ECU indicating a specific air flow value. The ECU then responds by requesting the correct ratio of fuel for that "air flow" value.

If you vent any of that original air you are effectively reducing the air volume in the pressurized intake, but the fuel request remains the same. The result is simply a momentary rich fueling condition.

As umiami80 mentions the only way around this is to change from a MAF to a MAP based system. Anyone that tells you otherwise is just trying to sell VTA BOV's! ;-)

No, the SAFC just intercepts the factory fuel request and provides a method for adjusting the A/F ratios +/- resulting in more fuel or less fuel. The key thing to remember is that the SAFC is acting on data coming from the ECU which is still relying on the MAF readings.

The VTA BOV affects the fuel/air ratio in a random fashion whenever it purges air to atmoshpere. This occurs after the initial MAF reading occurs and therefore cannot be "fixed" without changing to a MAP system.

Hope this info is helpful.

the safc i thought could fix the problem with it , its a seperate menu just for vta so you can trick the ecu during shifts 2 think lil 2 no air so less fuel thats at least from a few friends runing in there gsxs did and it works for them
