Got my Brain flash and Exhale installed today

So I got my Brain flash and Exhale today over at WORKS in SF. And the difference is pretty significant, in my opinion.

The biggest thing I noticed is that obviously power does not taper off at 5500rpm or so. It actually keeps on pulling till 7800 or so rpm.

The Exhale makes it sound about 100 times better. Not ricey sounding like a motorcycle, which was a concern of mine and especially my wife. It is not as throaty sounding as my 300zx TT with Stillen exhausts, but it sounds deeper then stock and deals with any back pressure issues quite well.

When I went to WORKS, they were just in the process of moving into their new location, so it was pretty empty. But the guys from WORKS were really cool and even let me drive their Evo that they do all their work on (and we even ended up getting in a SF cops way near their shop).

So I would recommend it? Yes, of course. I can't give you a more detailed technical analysis since I am not a car guru like most of you, but I will say that it has made a noticable difference in the performance of my car.

And the price actually was decent for aftermarket parts. I looked at just about vendor I could find on the net and it came down to either Buschur or WORKS. I did look at Vishnu stuff, but for me, since I am not rich, his stuff was way too expensive for my taste - especially the cat back exhaust. If I was going to go strictly cat back instead of the axle back, Buschur would have had my money.

Their web site is a little off. You are looking at 450$ for the ECU flash and another 300$ for the Exhale exhaust if you buy it with the ECU flash (aka The Brain). Then there is California's sales tax to take into consideration.

A pretty good deal, in my opinion and it makes a noticable difference.

this is almost as important as the HP gains. I'm in the same boat. First thing she said was, "You ain't gonna put one of those loud mufflers on there are you?"...while shaking her finger at me. "Of course not honey,...(secretly thinking, I'm not putting a muffler on at all..mwahahaha )".

So these are shipping out now David?

In this thread, David said "Although Exhales are just now shipping out, there are a number of Evo's out there already running the Aperture and all have reported good very favorable results."

So I guess that would be a yes.

Man I don't get that exhasust, how can it make anything other then noise? It looks like a $300 fart pipe to me, for another $100 you could of had a cat back.

Take three minutes to take off your muffler.(it really is easy)
You will be surprised at the sound level.
The muffler does not do much at all, except screw up the flow.

In a turbo'd vehicle, the turbo actually smooths out the airflow as it comes out of the combustion chamber before it's exhausted, so the exhaust of a turbo'd vehicle is naturally quieter without anything being done. If the exhaust system is relatively straight, there won't be many unwanted vibrations, which would cause noise, which is why I suppose this works as well as it's claimed to without an outrageous noise level. Just my thoughts.

It will be a little louder actually because it will drone a bit from resonating under the car in that little cavity. It will be quieter with a pipe on it.

I made a second rate video of what the Exhale sounds like with my digital camera. If you guys really think it sucks a fatty, I can make another with my dv cam.

Here is the video. It is around 2megs which is not too big even for you dial up users.

Thanks for posting these! I'm sure the pics and video file are a big help to those who have yet to experience the WORKS Exhale in person.
